***Well, Friday Is The End Of The World. Shall We All Meet On YT & See It Out?***
 

Just saw an update from CBS News on Twitter reminding everyone that the Mayans say this Friday is the end of the world!!! I say we all meet here on YorkieTalk to show those Mayans that Yorkie owners know better and will post ourselves through their so-called "end" telling Yorkie tales and looking at pictures of our babies?

I'm trying for 10,000 posts before the end of the year and, for sure, if the world is going to end, I would want to get them in before that! JK!!! :)

Someone did post an earlier thread about there being a record-setting day for YT and couldn't we try to beat that and I lost track of what we decided to do. I know this Friday is a bad time with family get-togethers and holiday parties and so forth, but if anyone wants to join me, I'll be here trying to get to 10,000 posts! :eek::D:eek::D

lol.... it does creep me out a bit to be honest!! I will check it from time to time to see if everyone is ok.

It is also Yule, longest day of the year. Marks the death and the rebirth of the Sun God. also marks the vanquishing of the Holly King, the god of the Waning Year, by the Oak King, the God of the Waxing Year.

I think that every culture has that rebirth. And the mayans are no different

Well, the 20th is me and my husband's 31st anniversary so we're getting it in just in time!

Seriously though, only God knows the time and the way the world will end so I plan to carry out my business as usual with no worries. It will be interesting to wake up on the 22nd though and see what excuses are made :rolleyes:

So, yah...I'll probably be on YT too :)

P.S. Maybe we should all open our presents early too ;)

That is my belief as well! I'm sure the excuses will be something else!

When we were in Baliz this year our cave tubing guides were Mayan so we asked then their beliefs on the calendar and the end coming, all of them laughed and said how they like to make fun of the crazy Americans because the calendar ends there due to they had been working on it for long they just got bored and stopped lol

Well, I plan to have some snacks and a good movie to watch all the while posting all I can! Not sure my fingers can get in 40 or 50 posts but maybe I can.

I tried watching a couple of the specials on the Mayans and was so creeped out by the bloody rituals and things I couldn't see them through the program. Yikes! Times of old were tough! We think these are bad times to live in but we live in heaven on earth compared to those folks! No wonder they wanted the world to be over - just surprised they didn't try to call an end sooner!!! Well, eventually their "world" did end but nobody seems to agree how.

But Mayans aside, there are all those Doomsday Preppers who have MRE's, weapons, underground bunkers with special air filters and all kinds of things so they will survive the ELE-level asteroid hit or volcanic eruption so big it could cause a nuclear winter for a year or two, no sun, no vegetation, etc. or whatever it is they think is going to happen. I'm thinking if something that bad happens, who wants to survive in that kind of world anyway!

Our Lord alone knows the date and it will be when NO one expects so we know for sure it won't be this Friday, so see you all here and we'll see how big of a gang we can get posting and strain those YT servers! :D

Haha. Maybe so! I hadn't even thought of that but maybe I can. We can count down the hours or something while talking Yorkie talk. Somehow I just have to get my 50 in this year - better still to post right through til 12-22-2012 to show those Mayans and doomsdayers a thing or two about those of us who made it through Y2K and beyond! I just thought joining one year and getting to 10k posts by the next would be something I would never do but now that I have gotten so close, got to try and see if I can't do it. What if I get to 9,999 and fall asleep or something????????????????????

Haha. If I'm close enough to 10,000, I'll have to set the clock to alarm about 11:00 p.m. just in case so I can wake up and post for a straight hour if I want to get them all in by the time the clock roles to 12-22-12!

I am pleasantly surprised no one has been going door to door in my neighborhood informing us the world is going to end.

Following the translation of the Hopi version the world will end too...and the new world of informed thought will begin the next morning...maybe they were just mocking the calendar the Mayans passed out...

So what time on the 21st is the world supposedly over. I'd hate to miss it. LoL I'll be here posting!

The bible tells us that no man knows the day or the hour the world will end. The prophesies all point to the downfall of man and the evil that will take place. Sounds like our world today with all the sadness we are experiencing. Rejoice that we have heaven to look forward to and when the day comes we will be with our Savior and Lord.

LOL No time has been set! In fact you can argue if it's the 21st on our side of the world (because that's where the Mayans are in) or if it's the 21st on the Eastern hemisphere... :)

Either way, it's just the end of their calendar. They have many calendar endings as do so many other cultures, just as Teri mentioned.

My only fear would be the wackos. But I'm pleasantly surprised to have not heard or seen anyone going off the deep end. Remember a few years ago where the pastor (??) was freaking out saying he calculated the end of the world? People gave up their entire life savings, had their pets put to sleep, and sold everything. And then, whoops...no end of the world. :(

LOL! Hey, let's get a group together and head southwest on the first plane out! We can access YT from the hotel and still post away on Friday.

If I really thought the world were going to end, I would buy myself a 100" flatscreen, dynamic sound system, huge solitaire diamond ring the size of an ice cube with full matching suite, eat nothing but Sundaes, fudge and pizza and buy out Neiman's. Plus, I'll confess, if the world were going to end and it couldn't hurt any more little animals to do it, I'd have a fabulous full-length sable for these last few days. I'd probably sleep in it, too! And first comes my Jaguar classic in all black throughout!
