Oil wells There is an oil well up the street from my house. They just started it this month. This thing is driving me crazy. It is so noisy. :(. It sounds like bombs going off all night long. My house shakes and my dogs bark. I hate this thing! How long do they keep them going? Can they legally run that thing all night long and disturb the entire neighborhood? Is there anyone you can call? It isn't just me. It is other neighbors too. The other night, our road, house, cars were completely covered in dust by this stupid thing! I guess my question is, can they just do anything they want? Because it is starting to look that way. :thumbdown |
Where do you live RosieGirl? Are you SURE they are drilling for oil? That doesnt usually happen right in the middle of neighborhoods....? |

I didn't even know what an oil rig was when I first moved here. Bf is from Nederland, which is near Beaumont TX where I guess they have lots of refineries.... Tony's house actually burned down when he was a baby because a refinery exploded :( He said his mama didn't even wake him up bc she thought they were going to die. Ugh! And here I was thinking my hometown's tourism industry was bad.... |

 Is this an exploratory thing - or is the oil rig already there and they're drilling? Over here, the 'talking about stuff' goes on for years - once they think there's oil, they have to okay everything with all the residents, then there are loads more talks until approval is reached (or not!) :) Have they just gone ahead and done all this, with none of you knowing? x |

I'm so sorry to read that this is happening to you! I would call my senator and U.S. representatives' offices and ask them what you need to do to try to get some relief from the noise harassment. That sounds awful! |

Ok well I found out I have to call the drilling company first. Then I call our County Seat person. So me and the girls are going to have to go for a ride to get the name of the company. |
They have been given permission by the land owner to drill on that property...they have signed a contract that can last 2-4 years!. I have property in Colorado and we are negotiating with about 4 different companies that are wanting to drill. There is someplace you can go on line to find out what companies are drilling in specific areas....if you dont get any information from the land owner or the rig hands. The county should have the information on that rig, as permits have to be obtained, etc. The bright side is........if they hit oil or gas on that spot, they will probably be coming to YOU for permission to drill on YOUR property! |
