| Breast Cancer Awareness Not sure if there is a thread on this yet. But I wanted to call attention to the fact that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I lost my father this October will make 2 years to cancer, so this is a disease that I make a lot of noise about! So to all the survivors and loved ones of those who suffer or suffered from this disease. I say hats off to YOU! You are stronger than you think, keep your head up and be encouraged, no matter what it looks like!

| It should also be called to attention that October is also Domestic Violence Awareness month!! My good friend from school is making speeches all next week at national conventions to raise awareness--her mother was murdered by her father four years ago. She was a breast cancer survivor. RIP Farah Abbasi.

Oh yes, Thank You for bringing that up! Domestic Violence is something else that it is important to be aware of. So many women and children suffer silently and often times no one knows until it's to late!

| Thank you both for calling attention to these. I am a 2 time cancer survivor (going through chemo now) and a domestic abuse survivor, so both are very dear to my heart. I lost my dad to lung cancer 13 yrs ago, my grandma to pancreatic cancer 3 yrs ago, my other grandma to ovarian/uterine cancer 3 yrs ago and my kids recently lost their paternal grandpa to lung cancer. Cancer is a DIRTY dirty word in our home!!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Yes I have had a few survivors. But I also lost a few. . . My best friend Shelley to pancreatic cancer a year ago . . . And my best friend Deena to domestic violence (wow) 12 years ago. And grandfather of lung cancer. . . And a few more. . . . I hope that they start working for a cure for pancreatic cancer. My heart goes out to all . . . I hope for a cure for all cancers. And pray for the stop of domestic abuse. |

| I understand, Cancer is a dirty word here also. My dad passed away here in my home from lung cancer and I still can't deal with it, I went in the room he passed away in the other day and just cried, I hardly ever go in that room and I find myself talking to him every day. I have other siblings but I was his only child so it's very hard. Then 3 months later we lost his brother to colan cancer and years ago both of their parents, my grandparents to cancer. All that's left is me and my two cousins. Wiped out an entire family. I'm really Praying for a cure and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this disease!

| Thank you for starting this thread. I lost my Mom to cancer 12 days after my 13th birthday. I think of her everyday and try to live my life as she did positive and joyful She was an amazing Mom and I am so proud to be her daughter. My Mom taught me to never give up. She lived for 8 years which was well past her expectancy. Prayers for all cancer patients and survivors.

YT 2000 Club Member | To all my fellow breast cancer survivors, I am so proud of you! It is such a battle and you are admired. I too had breast cancer, chemo, radiation, hair loss, anxiety-depression. Oh what a woman goes through with this horrible disease. I am stronger because of it and now the blessing-I work for hospice. Today my daughter went in for a mammo and an ultrasound. Pray she will not have this cancer. Life is precious. Our little Yorkies are precious. Let us enjoy every day of life and love our families, friends, and dogs! Yorkie lover, Cancer survivor, Sandy |

Also for you yogurt eaters, the yoplait pink lid promotion is stsrted back up...they have collection centers at my HEB now! Every little bit counts. There's also the Susan g. Komen race for the cure which I participate in every year.

| Being a 7 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I have to say I hate, hate the Pinktober month. I learned a long time ago where that so called money goes to. I always say Think Before You Pink. I instead give to my local support group, that uses the money to help women who are going thru treatment and may be having a difficult time. I have always said I ran/walked for years before my Cancer and I have yet to see a cure. My Mom died 19 yrs ago from Breast Cancer and some changes have come about, but not far enough.

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | I am a survivor of Domestic Abuse. I lost the only father I ever knew (step-father) to lung Cancer six years ago, my granfather that I never knew died from lung cancer when Dad was 16, his sister also passed from lung cancer, as well as Uncle John. Clearly runs in the family....so sad. I pray for a cure for all cancers everyday. To all the people who are survivors of Domestic Abuse...keep your head up...there is help out there, all you need to do is ask. I kept silent for many years...it was my daughter who finally called the police...she was 16 at the time...she called from a pay phone after I had sent her to school...she heard him say he wasn't finished with me .....thank you Lord for my beautiful, headstrong hard ears, daughter Shannon! I am sure if not for her, I would not be here! for those of you not familiar with West Indian (Jamaican) lingo....'hard ears' is a term used for those that do not listen, also spoken as 'can't hear'...selective deafness.
