I HATE this time of year here! You'd think that after 52 years I'd be used to it by now, but NOT so much!:eek: My theme song is"Wake Me Up When September Ends", and I don't care that Green Day probably was not talking about hurricane season!
DH got up early and busted his butt outside all day picking up stuff that could fly around and we still have more to do tomorrow. We don't live on the beach, but 17 miles as the crow flies isn't far enough inland to suit me in these times. I don't wish Isaac on ANYONE, but we sure don't want him,either!

I hear ya!!! Everything we do around here, seems to be aimed at being ready for these months...even down to not defrosting my 58 year old freezer in my garage, until AFTER hurricane season, so there will be enough ice inside in case we are without electricity for 4-5 days......generator is all charged up and ready to go....emergency hurricane kit is stocked and ready...everything for the dogs is ready....I am going to buy me a used Ford 15 passenger van before I retire, so I do not have to depend on a rental agency in case I have to get out....I do not like to be dependent on anyone or anything but myself and what I have in my possession.

I have been watching the storm updates and I pray all my FL friends are safe and continue to stay that way. It looks so scary:(

Looks like Miami is getting rain now. Airport closes at 7:00 last I heard.....

It just started raining here.
I took a look at the news & although I'm glad Florida will avoid the direct hit of what they say will be a cat2, Louisiana is gonna get it this time :( We'll probably see several tornadoes spawned from the storm & my guess is that Orlando will get pummeled (they always do...lightening strikes alone have more than doubled there this year).

I hope everyone in the effected areas take this storm seriously & avoid harm to themselves & pets. :umbrella:

Praying for you guys. Hope it doesn't blow or rain too hard and everybody in that thing's path stays safe! Please check in as you can and update us. Love to all in the pathway! I'm sure worried about you guys! ♥♥♥

Thanks, Jeanie! So far nothing here ~ Haven't heard from Shinja on how she is fairing in Miami yet! Karen is down there too!

I talked to Shinja earlier today. About 12:00. But she didn't reply to my last question. :(

Yeah I talked to her too. about 3500 people in her county are without power. She is probably trying to conserve her cellphone battery.

Woo! Woo! Way to go, Florida Girls! Glad all safe and sound and it wasn't so bad at least so far. Now wouldn't it be good if that old thing would just kill itself out in the gulf - run into some BP oil or something and choke itself to death and not hit anywhere else! I hate hurricane season - always thinking how scared I'd be if I were there waiting waiting waiting like everybody in its path is.

very light rain is all. Wind is starting to pick up a bit too. Disconcerting because I have florescent lighting and drop in panels in my bathroom and closet ~ and they lift up and down and whistle in the wind :eek::eek:

I had a cat once. We got him fixed, and he had to have the cone on. Well we had carpet with kind of a high pile. He was small so the edge of the cone stuck in the carpet. He tried to walk forward but it just made the cone turn upside down and then his head was covered by the cone completely. He could only walk backwards. It was hilarious and sad at the same time.
