!!!!!!!Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!! A Lizard Is In My Den!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek: Sitting here watching TV after letting Tibbe inside and a tiny, almost clear lizard ran from the Utility Porch door across the floor and disappeared behind the huge TV/TV stand and there is a tower of components beside that and about 35 cables run along behind. It looked to be about 3 1/2 - 4" long with its tail. Tell me it won't come near me!!! I'm almost, but not quite phobic of things like that. If it were a garden snake or any snake, I would be gone out the front door with Tibbe in my arms but I don't think I have to run unless that thing would get on me. That would send me running. Will it just stay in here and die somewhere? Yuck! How can you catch a thing like that!?!?! I'm a wreck! |
I am laughing because I have been there!! I don't know what it will do. My girls chase them and that scares me. The last time one got in my house I had DH, my son, and my step son all after it. I wasn't giving up until they caught it. I don't think it will bother you????? But I would be just like you!! Freaking out!!:eek: |
I had another one like it before but was able to put a bowl upside down over it and get it outside - after calling Animal Control who was going to send a man out. I finally took a 1/2 of a Valium and put some posterboard slid under the bowl and got the thing outside and threw the bowl, posterboard and all forward, turned and ran. Called Animal Control back and proudly told them what I had done but that one stopped....................eeeeeeee..........it just ran out into center of den!!!! I got up to go get a big bowl to put over & and saw it run back under the TV. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I won't sleep tonight. Anyway, the other one like this I had stopped near the wall going toward the Utility Porch and sat there while I got the bowl and slammed it down over it and ran into the living room. This one is not so cooperative. Tibbe is over there looking under the TV!!!!!! I don't know what I'm going to have to do. Animal Control closed and I can't in all good conscience call 911 or some guy to come out at this hour for a tiny lizard. A tiny snake - yep, I'm calling everybody as I'm phobic and nutty about them. I think I can make it through this but surely it won't come on me in bed tonight!!! |
I like them when they manage to get into the house...if you have any silverfish, they will run them down and eat them...same with mosquitos and those pesky tiny spiders that get in corners around the baseboards and build those nasty little cobwebs...I am fine with lizards....I will KILL myself trying to get away from ANY size spider! |

ohmygosh, I felt something moving along my thigh and jumped a foot! I think it was just, well, don't know what but I know wasn't that lizard since I've been watching for it. geez, don't suppose 2 got in!!!!!!!!!!! |
We have small blue tail lizards outside. They scare me, to me they are 1 step away from a snake. As I started down the front steps one day as I stepped down, one ran across the step under my foot. I screamed. I am surprised I did not fall down the rest of the steps. Puff (one of our chis) loves to watch out the patio doors and bark at them. Luckily none have gotten inside. I have already put my parents on alert. If a snake is found in my home, they better have a spare bed. I will not come back in mine until proof is shown that the snake is gone. |
I would just have to leave if it were a snake!!! Phobic in no uncertain terms there. I haven't seen the critter since my last post. I hope is dies dies dies or leaves leaves leaves. I had to have gotten in while I had the back door open as I was letting Tibbe in - was holding it open and stepping around corner of house to call him and I'll bet the little terror got in then. Then squirmed under the Utility door! Yuck! I couldn't kill it but I would try to trap it if it would just come out again. I have some big bowls to try to put upside down over it and trap it but it is staying put or God forbid, heading for my bedroom. I sweat, if I awoke and that thing were on me, I would lose it. Probably still be screaming tomorrow this time. Running and screaming. I couldn't stop shuddering for 2 weeks. Golly I hate them! Oh, why do they have to come in with us??????? |

I am this nuts over spiders, so I empathsize with you!! I was in the garage one day, and something jumped down on my forearm.....it was one of those furry, black jumping spiders...it was as big around as a penny!!!!!!! I was absolutely TRANSFIXED in terror....then out of the clear blue, something else hurled itself onto my foreare...it was a big green lizard, and it ate that spider in one fast gulp! ONE BITE!! BAM!!! GONE!!! I was sooooo appreciative of that little lizard, I NEVER again allowed the babies to chase or harrass lizards on the patio! GOD BLESS LIZARDS!!!! I have been known to buy crickets to feed them! |
I'll bet you could kiss that lizard if you are that scared of spiders. I know what unreasoning fear is. I don't worry so much about spiders but things that are reptile or reptile like are pretty darn scary to me and I wish I could fix it. It's so unpleasant to be horrified by part of the world but there you have it. Still, I'm sitting here and not calling people to get here now and hunt this thing down so I'm coping. I just want it to NOT get on me. I hope it's not cold or anything and needs to snuggle - YUCK. That would tear it! Probably put a 5 3 1/2" tall hole in the side of this nice brick house. |
Lizards? Oh come on. I finally took 3 days off from work over the 4th of July holiday after working 7 days a week for almost 2 years. I came back to the shop and went to get some grips from a box. Felt the indistinguishable feeling of spiderweb. ACK! and I'm not even that scared of spiders, just caught me off guard. I checked to see where the offending arachnoid was. ON the side of the box, a BLACK WIDOW! I smashed him in a napkin and threw him in the toilet. Turned out it was brownish and a FEMALE and the ones that kill. Took 5 flushes to get her down. I'm still scared to pee on that toilet. that being said, once I was sleeping in my room (dads house) and my cat at the time would not let this pile of folders go. I got mad in the middle of the night and went and moved all the folders. The very last folder I went to grab and saw the hugest lizard under it! My cat was trying to get it for days! I trapped it, just like you in a tupperware. Thought about keeping it, but then got really mad about all the sleepness nights I got from him, so I fed him to the cats outside. They got the tail first. |
The only spiders that I really mind is the brown recluse, which is an on going battle here. Yuck! |
Well, I'm still up waiting for my "visitor" to show its scary little face and NOT sleeping as I should be. Who can try to sleep with a lizard free in the house?!?! |
Is it one of those pinkish colored ones? They wont hurt you, it's a common house gecko. And I've never had one get on me. I know one lives behind our porch light cause I see it dart in there sometimes when we come home |
Really hoping you got some sleep last night! Tibbe will get it if it comes out!.....and then jump up and "gift" you mommie, by dropping it in your lap!!! Years ago, I had one of those "honey-do" helpers come to my home to help me clean out the garage before a move. This man was a HUNK!!! 6'4", built like Mr.America.....looked like he could have picked up my car and carried out out of the garage! He was working like a stevadore, hustling and getting all my boxes and junk gathered up and put into appropriate piles.....I am moving slowly, VERY cautiously....OMG!!!terrified a spider would get on me from out of a box or something....suddenly, a piercing, hi pitched girly shreek, and this huge, hunky man was runnning like a 3 year old little girl, massive sculptured arms flailing, shreeking and screaming to "GET IT OFF!!! GET IT OFF ME!!!!".....it was a lizard! He was horrified of lizards and he SAW one...it had not even gotten on him!!!! He was half way down the block, before he quit running and brushing himself off!!!! I dont laugh at peoples phobias, because of my own totally unreasonable "terrification" (my "Bush-ism"!!) of spiders, but I just couldnt stop laughing!!!! Poor soul!!!! Seriously though, peoples irrational fears are NOT irrational to THEM!! I hope you got some sleep and I hope Tibbe manages to capture the lizard and SHOW you he got it and it is not a threat to you anymore! |

I actually INVITE THEM INTO MY HOME!! They eat spiders and bugs, plus, that are very very cute ;) I was watching one for about an hour last night go in and out from behind a picture frame. I also leave water out for them :p |
The more I read of this the more I laugh. I'm sorry but I am exactly the same way. Lizards dart around so fast they freak me out. They scare the crap out of me! Of course any of them critters freak me out! we have spiders, centipedes, and scorpions that get in houses here. I scream and scream until DH or my son comes and kills them. I have learned to never leave the door open or cracked. If I do, I can almost guarantee something will get in. If a snake gets in we will have to move. Or ill be in the ER from having a heart attack! Lol. Hope you caught Mr. Lizard! |

I like lizards, esp the baby ones...they're so cute. I don't mind little lizards in our house, as long as they're not dangerous or something. What I DO mind is scorpions. My husband has been stung (ended up in ER), I've been stung (causing a fall down the stairs), and Wylie has been stung :(. I generally like most bugs, but spiders scare me and scorpions scare the crap out of the whole household! Is your new guest still there, btw? |
Jeanie.....where aaaaare you?!!? :D x |

Maybe it's really Olivia. That would be so cool. The babies are teeny tiny. I have some lizard eggs on my lanai in my aloe plant :D |
Jeanie, I would die. I would just absolutely die. My flesh is crawling right now! I think you should just sell the house. |
