Me i dont like anything that isn;t a cat or dog with more than four legs!! I lived in Florida for two years, and saw everything from geeckos to garden snakes. The one that made my book my ticket back to this cold azz country was this... Former in laws had an enclosed inground pool. Enclosed with mosquito netting. So I'm sitting with my new-born son (eight weeks) just chillin. Something flew in from the open patio doors. Thing splatted on the wall. I'm asking 'Vi what in the world is that' Oh she says...(patios)...'a no nuttin, jus one roach'. Me...:those things fly down here?!" And why is it sooo big???:eek: The thing was as big as my middle finger!! AND it made the most horrible 'crunch' sound when she killed it! Naw man, my backside is not living down here another second....I booked my ticket for the very next day!!!! Left her son, my then husband there and came home!!! The roaches here are normal size and they dont FLY!! Come to find out once I'm safely back in Canada...It was a palmeto!! EEEEEWWWW....Flying roaches!!! Sorry dont want to be in the same country as them, let alone the same house! |

Sorry cant do the flying roach, the lizards, the spiders bigger than your hand.etc. And i'm a Jamaican!!! We have those things down there, but I will live in the cold rather than deal with things crawling up in my house thanks!! Yes I'm a wussy Jamaican!~!!! |

This is the funniest thread I have ever read on her I am still laughing let so know when you catch the little devil |
Some people keep those huge flying roaches as pets down here in Texas!!! They fly and they WILL chase you! I had to call in late to work one morning because I had one on my back door and I could not open the door or it would have gotten me!!! It was running all over that back door, but would NOT get off it....and then when it did, it only went to the brick right at the edge of the door! I was trapped inside my house!!! I had to go get my son up, so he could go out the front door, around to the back, with wasp spray to kill the thing, so I could get to the garage to the car! |

I don't mind the lizards/geckos in the house but usually try to catch them & put them outside where they belong. Snakes don't bother me so long as they know their place. Hysterical thread |

Personally, I love those little lizards:) They eat bugs:D!!!!I have several that live in my garage and once in a while I find one in the house. The dogs just watch them, they don't chase or kill them. I think they find them entertaining:laugh: |
Seriously, has anyone heard from Jeannie? |

We have tons of skinks little lizard things here. They have beautiful colors and live in the stone walls around the planters. Whenever I use the garden hose, they come out to greet me. I don't like when they come in the garage because they startle me...and they poop everywhere. :p |
Lizzie almost got me! Been kind of waylaid with a tummy bug or something! Yesterday evening I was coming back from the bathroom when Lizzie was sitting right in the edge of the living room floor where there is tile! I got a tupperware container I could see through and was able to slowly approach & actually put it over it!!! I was ecstatic as I hustled back to the den with my skin crawling. I put a heavy weight on the top of the container so knew Liz was trapped until daylight when I could try to get some posterboard under the container and carry it all out to the yard. Well, a few hours later, I shined a flashlight into the container and saw it in there & got to worrying about would it last the night without being outside to eat/drink, so I was able to work the posterboard under the container to form a bottom of sorts. This took several tries as I would jump back when little Liz would move or dart around. Sometimes I had to retreat back into the den almost falling over Tibbe who was sticking right by me. Finally I got the posterboard under there and started trying to lift it all up and the darn thing rushed out and right by me, not missing me more than a few inches! It ran right at me! I just screamed like an idiot and skeddatled down the hall into the back of the house. I could hear Tibbe in the den/living room and lots of scratching and growling sounds. Finally, he came into the bedroom and I wouldn't look at him for fear what he had!!!! I wouldn't touch him - I just couldn't. He finally lay down after snorting and snorting a lot. I sat on the bed with my back to him for a long time. After a good long while, I let him outside(was scared to look toward the living room or den door area for fear of what I might see) and after brushing his teeth and washing him off all over(didn't feel like bathing him and besides, I could hardly stand to touch him), I relaxed a bit. He was trying to help - and yikes, maybe he helped more than I'd like to KNOW. Ewwwwwww. Gives me the creeps to think what he might have done!!!!!!!!!! If he did, I hope he goesn't get sick and I won't be checking out his youknowwhat for a long, long while!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh! Ugh! YUCK!~ I finally looked all over the living room, den floor and see nothing - telltale. CREEPY!!!!!! I took my BP and it was like 175 over something ghastly and my pulse was 122!!! I was a WRECK! Took 1/2 of a Valium and tried to calm down. I eventually passed out from the drug and slept all night and then some. Bad headache & upset tummy this a.m. Lizzie hasn't made a further appearance though I have a smaller see-through tupperware container I think it will be easier to get lifted with the posterboard under it if it comes back - if IT even still exists. I still cannot let Tibbe kiss me or snuggle much - I just can't! I don't know what happened in here last night and I don't want to know. I don't give a darn about Lizzie's well-being now! When it ran at me and scared me so, I just freaked! Now this thing is tinier than I even imagined - just about 3" from stem to stern once I saw inside that tupperware with the flashlight. Ugh! It is soooooooooo gross looking, tiny as it is. If I hadn't felt sorry for it thirsting or starving to death last night, it would probably be gone safely into the front yard by now but nooooooooooooooo, I had to try to move it last night and messed my plans all up. Should have waited but now poor little wretch is probably somewhere dying and I'm a bad person for being so scared. If I han't been so scared I probably could have gotten it up & out without being so jerky & allowing it to escape. When it ran toward me, I just about died. Well, I feel better somehow now. They say telling somebody about something bad can be good for you! Thanks for listening. Trying to tell something like this to a man just never works! They will NEVER get it! I so hate the trying so hard not to smile. I just shivered all over again. Wonder if I never see it again how long I'll shiver when thinking of it. Just hope I don't EVER see Lizzie again and I can soon cuddle Tibbe again! That thing is so fast, I really don't know if he could have caught it and I think I'd rather think it's still in the house than ANYWHERE else it might be. |
I was killing myself laughing at "The Misadventures of Yorkietalkjilly and Lizzie".....until I got to the part about your pulse rate and b/p....not a laughing matter! It is easy to forget how serious some of these phobias are to each of us and those vitals were a clear indication you were indeed fearful....I am surprised you even had the courage to try to get it outside...I would have just put a large heavy object on top of that tupperware so I was CERTAIN it was NOT getting out, then ........I would have had to get SOMEONE else to monkey around with it! Your little hero Tibbe took care of that dastardly old Lizzie! Nothing for momma to fear, TIBBE IS HERE!!!!! |
If Lizzie were a snake, I would have had to leave it - might could have managed to get something over it to contain it if it were a garden snake but would not have dared go near it afterward. Would have had to just leave the house until it was gone but the lizard is not that ultimate fear like that of a snake. I did hate to think about it going so long without water/food but not once it came at me. That kind of did it! Scared the willies right out of me. Seemed like I could feel my heart pounding! I don't know why I think they want to get on me but that's what I fear more than anything. Feel just like a fool letting something like that scare me so. Tibbe seems okay - hope he didn't actually catch it! Trying not to think of that. |
Glad you survived the ordeal! I would be the same way. Next time one gets in call Sugarmamma! She likes lizards! :D:p |

I used to want a pet lizard when I was a kid. If I had one now I'd dress it up like Rango. I did keep one for a while. I caught him with my hands and kept him in a little metal box until I let him go after I realized I had to feed it bugs. He was so small, only about 3". The one that I caught in my old room at my dad's house was over 12" long. After the cats ate off his tail he was like 4" LOL. |
No sign of Lizzie today so far! |

Yeeeeek. A visual that is giving me the icky crawlies all over right now! A zillion weeny Lizzie's all running around! I could go into orbit if I ever saw that! As I pass overhead every 24 hours, you'll know it's me from the continual "eeeek-eeeek-eeeek" you'll be able hear from space rather than the usual "beep-beep-beep". Give me a silver dish to hold and I can beam back creepy nature programs for you and the reptile family to watch!!!! |

Just reading through this....I can somewhat relate. Levi likes to "play" with garden snakes. Sometimes he likes to show me what he caught and drop them in my living room. I am quite sure you can hear me shreaking from there. Thank god for my 18 year old son, who will catch it and bring it back outside. |
No. No sign of Lizzie or Godzlizzie! I'm thinking either Tibbe dispatched with it or the little critter died. No sign since I heard all the growling and scrambling around by my little Disney-looking dog that looks as if he belongs on a Hallmark Greeting Card, not killing critters! It's so gross to think he got it but I can't imagine what else could have happened. Vitals done today: BP: 115/73, HR: 61. I'm healthier when Lizzie is gone - if a little queasy thinking about how. |
No more sign of Lizzie. Either Tibbe did the deed that night or Lizzie hid somewhere after running at me and then died. I don't think it could still be living this long without any food or water. That's what I think but does that sound feasible? Think I can relax? |
