THIS is why I love my macs!

I've been using Apple computers for upwards of 10 years. I've never ran virus protection. Never had a virus. Never had a hard drive crash and never had to reformat. It just.... well... works. I don't have to reboot my computer when I install something new. No blue screen of death. No core files o be corrupted and my computer lets me know when an outside program is trying to access my system.

LOVE it! Sure, they're a little more spendy than a pc, but to KNOW my laptop is going to work when I open the lid is worth it to me.

Beware, some of the computer nerds are getting into Mac's. My credit card number was stolen off my ipad. There's no security you can buy for it, so I feel so vulnerable. The credit card company was diligent and notified me.

Stolen off your ipad, how? I just don't understand what you mean. Did you use your ipad to purchase an item on line and used your CC? Is that what happened? The issue wasn't your ipad...that came from the server on the other side.

Most hackers intent on sending malware and viruses are first and foremost familiar with the loopholes of windows operating systems. Outlook mail is also widely targeted.

But there are still "security" issues regarding your personal info any time you provide it on line.

Hmm, my dd just recently went through a security problem having a credit card stolen. I wonder now if it was through using her Mac. Our computer tech we use at work says it's only a matter of time before Macs become vulnerable too. All it will take is one hacker to figure out how, and she said, "don't think they aren't trying." It's just always something I've put in the back of my head because we have both PCs and Macs in our house.

I got online after midnight last night just to be sure! I think the FBI turned those rogue servers off at mignight east coast time so I went to bed pretty sure I was okay but still worried this morning until my brower came up! Dang criminals - putting people through all this.

If I knew how, I steal some!

You have to use your credit card if you want to get any applications for your ipad, even free ones. When I signed up for itunes they wanted my credit card info, and a couple weeks after that, I got a call from my credit card company. Since the purchase was a none dog related item they were suspicious! Anyway, it was a relatively small purchase, less than a hundred dollars, and the credit card people said they usually start small and if it passes they get bigger and bigger. I can't remember the actual name of the company it was charged to, but I googled it and lots of people have been charged by them. Some say apple and itunes knows about it and aren't doing anything. You can google itunes and fraud and get some information, but I still can't find the name of the company listed on my credit card. She did warn me to check my statements.

I've read & heard that Mac is a big target now as the black hats need more challenges and it's a matter of conscience for them they have let Apple cruise too long.

Nancy you can get around using your credit card on ITunes. They make it appear as you have to use it but you don't. I have iTunes and an iPad. I have never given my credit card number and download apps all the time. For apps that cost you can purchase an iTunes card at Walmart. I would remove my information from there and use the iTunes card from now on.

I guess I'm weird. Any online purchases I've ever made I've either used Paypal or a prepaid credit card. Walmart sells the green dot visa card and you can reload it at will. It saves my real credit card and debit card numbers from being put out there in cyberspace.

Thanks for the tip, I was wondering if the iPad "remembered" my credit card information. Anyway, that card is out of service, and I don't want to give them my new card, so buying them at Walmart will be a great idea.
