| HGTV Green House I just to share with you all that the rescue where I volunteer (Atlanta Pet Rescue) did a fundraiser today partnering with HGTV at the 2012 Green House. I served as a tour guide for 4 hours and fell in LOVE with the house. I cannot believe how well designed this house is and the community, Serenbe GA is so peaceful and cool. If you haven't seen it yet check it out at HGTV - Decorating, Outdoor Rooms, Landscaping Ideas, Kitchen and Bathroom Design If any of you win this house can I move in?

| I actually read somewhere that several of these houses either get sold, or the owners lose them, due to the taxes being so high that they can't afford them. Same thing with extreme makeover. You may have a free home, but the taxes are more than your original house payment, as well as increased utilities. Just because you knock down an old house doesn't mean the mortgage goes away, and those don't always get paid. It's actually sad if you think about it. | UPDATED x2: HGTV Dream Home in Tyler on the block Saturday | www.pegasusnews.com | Dallas/Fort Worth 7 of the 9 winners have had to sell because they couldn't afford the tax burden.

| wow that is very sad i always wondered how they would afford taxes as they go from dump to palace. that is a serious downfall of such a wonderful thing they were trying to do to help people.

| I have to agree, it is sad. They receive a $100,000.00 cash prize also seems like they could pay the taxes. I would not blame them for selling, in the case of this house it is not close to the city so I may not be somewhere everyone would want to live (not me, I would LOVE to live there). The house is FABULOUS, not so large and obnoxious but very open with a lot of outdoorl living space. When Lynzy wins and I move I will make sure I post pictures.
