4/20 was also the first date of "The Great American Smoke-Out" ~ an effort to get all tobacco smokers to quit for one day. Ironically, the pot smokers made it a day to smoke out literally instead. I have also heard that it was originally part of a police code for potentially smelling marijuana, but that rumor I have yet to research. Anyway, I too teach HS and for that reason am usually somewhat up to date on current teen culture.

Well ya learn something new everyday....this is the first I have ever heard of 4/20...guess I just wasn't in the "in crowd" in highschool in 1970....

I wonder how Colorado feels about legalized weed now. They did do such a great job on being prepared for the consequences. That was some crazy nonsense that took place yesterday. I believe two men were shot a possibly killed and thousands more hurt during the stampede of people trying to get out of harms way, Very sad !

Can't believe I came up in that generation and never knew a thing about it. Never had a clue until I saw that number on Twitter last year and clicked on it.
