I know you cannot possibly be serious. It is hard for me to grasp how anyone believes there is no racism in this country...

I think the problem is that we allow special things for special races and we continue to set people apart and point out there differences. I know there is racism in this country but not every one is racist. I feel like in a lot of cases white people get the short end of the stick as far as scholarships and financial and medical help. I think we live to much in the history and get punished for what other people did although terrible I didn't do it and I shouldn't be punished for it.

I am sorry if I am coming off racist because I am not and I feel like people don't say some of this stuff for fear of being called racist. I grew up and went to school and such where the majority was black and had many many black friends as well as boyfriends. I was also beat up and picked on in 2nd grade for being white and it was terrible because I never saw the difference between me and them I was a very friendly kid and raised to respect and be nice to everyone and maybe that's the problem these days maybe kids need to be raised to respect each other no matter how different.

I'm not sure why it's disturbing? I feel like this whole Trayvon Zimmerman thing got out of control because of people saying it was race related. I mean come on you have black groups wanting to kill Zimmerman before there is even a trial and all the evidence is out there because they say it was race related yet that cant be proved at least not right now. If it was reversed there would be no white groups doing this because they would be called racist and the news and stuff would never say anything about it and no groups would be hold protest and riots. Sorry seems wrong to me.

I don't know what news you watch....but there are enough hate groups in this country to keep this stuff going forever.

I am going out and hope this thread is closed when I return. I find it disturbing, yes I do. No different to me than discussing politics and religion...leads to major issues and I really feel this thread could turn bad.

Just to bring a point of view to the table (and I think some others here have also expressed it). I don't think this is a "race thing". That is not what has me outraged or others I know.

Mr. George Zimmerman was chasing a young person w a hoodie around a neighborhood w a gun strapped to him. He is not a police officer. He does not have police academy training for these types of situations. He does not have an understanding of ppl's rights, the law, etc. It is essentially like practicing medicine w/o a license. In most states, you cannot even cut hair w/o the proper licensing, let alone chase young ppl through a neighborhood w a gun strapped to you.

I don't care what color this young man was. It should not be assumed that a "young person" is trouble when they are walking through your neighborhood. This young man had skittles on him. I would also not appreciate it if a young person from this forum was hassled in a mall and thought to be a shoplifter just bc they were a young person in a hoodie. And to be shot/killed for this is ludicrist.

Mr. Zimmerman is the son of a retired district magistrate and has been given special treatment bc of this. To my understanding, even police officers are required to turn in their weapon until a full investigation of a shooting has been carried out. Unbelievable. It is time we send a message that it doesn't matter who your father is, the eyes of justice are blind to your family's background and are only interested in fact.

But that wasn't why he got shot. He got shot because he was bashing Zimmermans head into the ground.

We've had this thread reported a bit. Talking about race is not against YT rules. Just please be respectful, as all of you have tried to do so far. There is a difference btwn discussing racial issues and racial/racist slurs. Please stay on the side of discussing.
