omg everyone, I spent my whole friday night,hours on the phone with e-bay paypal and my bank.

I was looking to buy a dog purse a few weeks ago and posted a thread about it, someone suggested looking on ebay because they had great prices, so i made an account and was considering ordering one however didnt because the shipping was too much, well my e-bay was linked to my paypal, i never used paypal or ebay before, i simply made a paypal because i was planning on ordering meesha pj's fr a yt venor here as soon as she stops her growing spurts and didn't have a credit card...well i looked at my bank account today and there were hundreds of dollars in charges from paypal. luckily i dont use that account often and only had a few dollars in there so most of it bounced, but i have over 100$ of nsf fees.

I called paypal and they are doing an investigation and froze my account, then i called my bank and they made a report about it, i have to go into the bank monday to try to get the fees refunded, then i called ebay..the woman there was so rude to me, i have all these purchases i never made on my ebay for computer programming pins from germany ,i have no idea what they even are!! she said theres no way my ebay was hacked because none of my information was changed, someone had to have gotten my password bid on all these computer programs and took the pins that were sent to the e-bay mail... she said someone in my household must have been on my computer, well i'm currently not working right now, i am usually always home with meesha my yorkie puppy have a password on my computer and never had anyone over my house the past month the charges were all on feb 26th.. noone has been here but me, i am so stressed out right now, this is so scary, has anyone every dealt with a similar situation with ebay? how was it resolved this has just ruined my whole weekend, i am so stressed, my poor baby meesha is looking depressed because i paid her no attention i have been on the phone for over 5 hours trying to get this solved...please if anyone has gone through something similar please tell me there was a good outcome... i can't believe the nerve of ebay to tell me my ebay wasnt hacked because no info was changed, everything that was bid on was pins that never needed a shipping address, each of these microsoft pins were 180$ each, i'm sick to my stomach!

OMGosh! So sorry you're going through this. I did have something similar happen to me a while ago, but it was only $4.00, maybe I caught it early, IDK. Seeds from China and delivered to my house. 1 Packet. Maybe this was a test for them to see if it worked and then planed to charge more at a later date. Ebay and PP were all good about it all, and it was resolved.

I hope your problem is resolved quickly...

I am so sorry for what you are going through! Were these pins (whatever they are) that were purchased sent to someone? If so, don't they have an address where they are being sent? I can understand your frustration and hope you can get this fixed quickly. It hasn't happened to me, but a few weeks ago, someone bought stuff from my daughter's account. It was a hassle, but she did get it straightened out in her favor. I hope you do too...and soon! Hugs to you and Meesha!!

they were Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard/Enterprise Key with Hyper-V ...whatever those are????, they are very expensive!!...yes hopefully they will find who these pins were sent to and they get caught, i am just sick to my stomach ,what if they dont figure out who hacked it and i have to pay for all these,eeek, i am now so scared, i'm changing my passwords on everything right now. If anyone here uses ebay or paypal i stress to you please always change your passwords and be very secure, it is very stressful and time consuming to go trhough all this to get it cleared up...you are bery lucky kjc you caught that in time! they were probably planning to steal more!the lady at paypal was soo nice to me, she was telling me to not let it ruin my weekend lol, i think she could hear i was almost ready to cry lol! i hope karma comes back to horrible theifs,lifes hard enough without people doing horrible things like stealing...i'm so glad that both your cases were resolved kjc and connie that makes me feel so much better!!

OMGosh!!!! Thats horrible! I haven't had an issue with paypal, and I have never used ebay.

I am dealing with a theif situation too. Hubby received tax forms for money (inheritance paid on death) that we never received. So of course we call the life insurance company. They sent a check beginning of 2011 and it was cashed!!!!!! It was cashed at a Regions bank and not by us!!! At the time it was cashed, we had an acct with Bank of America and didn't open Regions until the end of last year (October time frame)

So someone stole a very large check from us.....and cashed it at a bank we didn't bank at during that time!!! When we looked at my hubby's credit reports to see if it was identity theft that was going on......several accounts had been opened.

So now we are trying to find out how we can get this inheritance check back...and my hubby's credit back.

It's a complete mess. So I totally understand what you are going through! I hope everything gets resolved soon. It is so nice to talk to these places and have nice people on the other line....but when they are rude.....it makes things so much harder!

Sending prayers that you can get this sorted out and don't have to pay for it. I do know how stressful it is!

I don't understand why or how people do this!!! And it happens ALL THE TIME! Happened to my brother with a credit card...the credit card people called him because they noticed a lot more activity on it than usual ( my sister in law only uses it at chirstmas time)...there were $100's of dollars being spent...they asked if his wife could have been using it more often and he said no...With my brother on the phone with them, the credit person, on the phone, told him the card was being used as they were talking!!! well obviously it wasn't anyone in my brother house...they froze the card and refunded all his money...I also had to set up a pay pal acct for order something...however...i have never used it...I use my debit card...which I'm SURE they could hack that too!! Hopefully you will get all your money back!

And then it is the victim who has to go through all the trouble.

It just infuriates me to no end. I go to work and I work hard for every dime I have. It is mine and No one else has a right to it. Sorry, rant and vent there for a minute but it truly makes me mad!

I am so sorry this has happened to you and to others.

I hope you get it all resolved.

A friend of mine had a really bad time with Paypal over someone charging on their account. I don't understand all of it, but anyway they closed everything except their banking account. They have direct deposit, use cash for most everything and write checks for bills. They did away with all credit cards as well.
I really think the crime rate will continue getting worse the closer to Dec. we get. Really stupid people in this world.

It is really Awful!!!! Do you have full Norton Security on your computer??

I had someone steal my SSN.
I used TurboTax to e-file for my tax refund and I got an error code. I called the IRS and they said they already had an efiling for my SSN. I had to paper file and send an identify theft affidavit. I checked my bank acct. immediately as well as all three of my credit reports. Nothing had been bothered.
Now I have no idea when I will get my federal refund. It totally Sucks!!!!

I got an e-mail several months ago and said a third party was trying to get into my Paypal. Well, I never use credit cards, we pay bills by check and I had opened that to order from bowbiz. I couldn't even get anyone at Paypal so I just closed that credit card number and they issued me another number. I will never order from the internet. Too scary and I have been through Idenity theft and its no fun. We were fortunate we got it resolved pretty fast to what some people go through. THe police told me to never use a debit card. They said they can clean you out. Only use credit card. So sorry this happened to you. It can really be flusterating to say the least.

thanks everyone, wow so many simialar stories of theft and hackers,i hope everyone else who is dealing with theft gets thiers figured out too!HOW HORRIBLE!!i will never use ebay or paypal again!I think theft is alot more common than people think, i thought paypal was suppose to be so secure, obviously not. I don't understand how people can steal,i agree, we all work so hard for our money, these people are just horrible human beings whom i hope karma comes back to bite them in the a$$.From now on i am just sticking to cash and not ordering anything online, this was a big wake up call how easy it is for people to get into your accounts.I'm going to start changing my passwords for things more often too, don't want anything else to get hacked.I hope these people get caught and everyone who is dealing with a similar situation has a postitive outcome.

Yes it is hard to get ahold of anyone at paypal, i waited an hour on the phone just to talk to a real human and then was transfered around to 3 different people, they don't make it easy to get ahold of them lol

I am in shock,I am completley screwed over, not enough eveidence, I don't even know that those programs are that were ordered, there was also charges to some kind of mission fish thing too!My paypal was most certainly hacked and now i'm out some of my money because of it! i am soo mad and shcoked right now, the woman at paypal assured me this would be dealt with and not to worry and now to hear this... I will NEVER EVER deal with ebay paypal or anything of that sort again...I found some similar stories while googling about paypal. Everyone be very careful, if i would have had more money in there i would have been cleaned out!.. i am going to take the next step and write them a letter i don't even know how to go about finding more evidence, Noone uses my computer but me. I have a password on my computer also, i had gotten a ton of emails from ebay and clicked on one before maybe they weren't legit?..i don't know what to do here, this is a crappy situation!!!Just thought I'd share because I never thought anything like this could happen and it did! and I always hear how safe paypal is! Well its not at all!!

Never, never, ever access your PayPal account (or any account) through an email. Always type the address in at the top address bar. There are many illegitimate PP emails that get sent out, and then the thieves can get your logon info. Usually PP will email you if anyone tries to make any changes to your account.

If you float the pointer over the respond area, the address to where it will take you shows up at the bottom of your screen. Many are bogus.

Is there any chance that you still have the email that you clicked on?

Did you receive the merchandize that was purchased through your account?

Do you have the contact information of the seller of the merchandize? I would contact them and get the addy to where the stuff was sent and give that to PP and ebay. Who was the seller... I'll look him up now...

I have a special number to contact them... I'll call them tomorrow and see if this can be fixed.
