Oh boy, sounds like a lot of work on those invitations! Interestingly enough, as a way to make a few bucks on the side, I make invitations for other people's events. I had no interest in making my own...LOL. Maybe because I wasn't making any money on them. ;) We ordered ours from David's Bridal and we've received a lot of compliments on them from the people we sent them to. |
I am having bridesmaid dress issues! We ordered in January, and they were supposed to arrive in April. No problem. My bridal shower will most likely be in May, so I will see the girls then and can deliver their dresses (they do not live here). I got home yesterday and had a message on the phone, saying one dress is in (the girl who lives 2 hours from me) and the other dress will be shipped April 27th (the girl who lives over 5 hours from me)... Come on!!! We ordered in JANUARY! And it's not even being SHIPPED until the end of April? I'm thinking the store made an error and didn't order, or ordered the wrong size or something. It makes no sense that one is in and the other isn't, when they were ordered at the same time. I need to call on my lunch break today  If I don't have it by the time of my shower, I will have to drive over 5 hours ONE WAY to deliver it to my friend. If that's the case I'd better be getting a discount :mad: |

I had issues with my girls shoes...they came in and were so uncomfortable I had to return them. I am just going to let the girls wear whatever they want/comfortable in. I am just going to ask that they wear something neutral. Speaking of shoes...did you get shoes yet? I am having a really hard time finding what I am looking for. I basically want a off white satin peep toe and cannot find it anywhere. :( |
Well what I figured out about the dresses is that basically the store forgot to order the second one, but they are refusing to admit it was their fault. So there's not much I can do. When I went into the store, the girl went to the back for about 20 minutes and came back to tell me that they ordered both dresses, but for some reason the second dress did not show up on the manufacturer's order and only one got made. Shouldn't there be some sort of check? Should the manufacturer give them back a receipt of their order to make sure they have everything? I don't know, either way it was overlooked, and now it seems it will be in Toronto on May 4th and then ship here from there. If I get it in time to see my bridesmaid in May, and it exactly matches the color of the first dress, then I guess it won't matter. I am letting my girls wear what they want too... I just asked that they both wear black shoes, but the style doesn't matter! I actually ordered my shoes from DSW. Well, technically, a good friend ordered for me because they don't ship to Canada! I found exactly what I wanted and the price was pretty good too! They are red satin peep-toe pumps with little ruffles across the toe. They came in a bunch of different colors and they are pretty comfortable. I can normally wear 4 inch heels and I think these are about 2.5 or 3 inch so they should be comfortable for all day! |
Sounds like a cover up to me. Maybe they can ship it directly to your bridesmaid so you don't have to make the 5 hour drive? Your shoes sound very very cute!!! Colored shoes are really IN now. My shoes were 4 inch purple suede with a wine colored satin knot across the peep toe. They are gorgeous! I wore them ok for awhile but didn't try to dance in them, I changed into flip flops with a stacked heel for the reception. One of my bridesmaids wore silver heels, the other one wore wine colored flats (she was super super pregnant!) One wore her hair up, the other wore her hair down. You can't imagine though, even though they were not the same, they look so good in pictures and I love how natural they look, pictures come out so good when the people in them are comfortable with themselves. You'll be happy you let your girls pick their own things because they will be happy! |
I think my bridal shower will be mid- to late-May so if the dress comes in at the time they said, I should be able to give it to her then. I am down to the double digits now... my wedding is 93(ish?) days away!!! :) This weekend we are addressing our envelopes with my future in-laws. We made little maps last night for the church and the reception venue, with notes about parking downtown for the church (we're going to scope out a few more parking lots and their rates today after work to include on the map!) and information about special room rates at the hotel where the reception will be. Now I'm kind of just counting down the days to have free evenings and weekends again - it's not just the wedding I'm excited for lol! Oh and tomorrow I'm going shopping with my mom and my flower girls for their dresses :) I also want to try on my dress again for them! |
Sooooo exciting!!! Enjoy every minute of it, even the counting down. It felt like forever away and then it was here and then it was over. I'm kind of in post wedding blues. haha Naw... I love my husband, but I really wish I could redo the wedding day again & again! Try on your gown as much as you want to! You only get to wear it once, so wear it in the store 100x if you want to! :) |
Just 9 days to go! I'm so ready for this day to be here! All the last minute stuff is pretty stressful. My dress (after 3 fittings and some serious aggravation) is finally done and hanging at my mother's house. We met with the videographer last night (he was a VERY last minute addition) and now we have to start working on the seating chart and place cards. So thankful it's just 35 people we have to seat. The only thing I really have to do now is find a good bra with some lift. I changed my undergarment after last week's fitting. My bustier, though it was comfortable and gave me great lift, had boning that was actually poking through my dress at my hips. Sad. We made reservations for a little overnight "honeymoon" the day after the wedding at a Catskills resort. We will take an actual honeymoon in the summer when I am off. |
How exciting!!!! I know what you mean by being SOOO done with the last details... at some point, you are just like 'ok.. Im sooo done the planning' and there is still a half dozen other things to do. On the thursday before my wedding we dropped off everything to all our vendors... there was truly nothing left to do. I felt soooo happy that I was DONE! Just enjoy your last 9 days. Seriously, ladies, I cannot say it enough, it's over WAY too fast! I have been married 12 days now!!! I can't even believe it! |
Married lady here! :D Our wedding on Saturday was absolutely perfect! Everything went exactly the way we wanted it to, and I can't believe I worried so much! I can't wait to get a look at the pictures. Our "mini-moon" was fantastic as well...an amazing 24 hours at a resort/spa in the Catskills. Huge suite, champagne in the jacuzzi, couples massage...we so didn't want to come home. However, it was awesome to pick Roxie up at the kennel and see how happy she was to be back with her mommy and daddy! Now it's back to everyday life. It's weird to not have planning stuff to do...LOL. |

I really need to finish up the Thank you cards. In 6 days we'll be married a month! Wow, time is really just FLYING by! |
We only have 11 weeks left. We're not even counting down by months anymore  We had another issue with the bridesmaid dresses! One is in, and one is still on order and should be here in May (becuase the store forgot to order the second one, as I mentioned earlier). So the bridesmaid whose dress is in, picked up her dress on Tuesday while she was here for a conference. She loved it, she tried it on and it fit, etc. I was at work so I couldn't be there to see! She went home (2 hours away). She also bought some black shoes and was telling me this morning she was going to take a picture of her in the shoes and dress to show me. Then she said "By the way, did you think this dress came with a sash? Because it did not." Yes, it comes with a sash, a black sash which will match their black shoes. She called the store and they told her oh the sash is there at the store (whoever gave her the dress forgot it I guess?) and it's a TEAL sash. The dresses are teal, the sashes are supposed to be black. We said that when we ordered!!!!!!!! Anyways, my bridesmaid said we need a BLACK sash and they basically said sorry, that will be an extra charge to change it now. I left work and got in my car to drive over there. When I got there I was prepared to be bridezilla, but when I tried to say what happened I started crying :( I am just so stressed. I guess either way it worked - as soon as I can bring the first dress back to the store, it will be changed to a black belt at NO CHARGE and they will also change the dress still coming in. Crisis averted. But annoying and frustrating and stressful nonetheless. I am so ready for the wedding to be over :( |
1 Attachment(s) Aw Linz...sorry that dress fiasco stressed you out so much. I'm sure everyone will look awesome when it's all said and done! Your 11 weeks will just fly and the next thing you know, your big day will be here! I couldn't stand the drama, so I didn't even have bridesmaids. I told my sisters-in-law and nieces to get whatever kind of dresses they wanted. They, and my mom, all chose to get their dresses in our colors (purples) and it looked so nice in the pictures. My younger sister-in-law and my oldest niece were extremely helpful all day, so it was kind of like having bridesmaids! :) I can't believe we are married a week already! Where does the time go? We have to start dealing with bank stuff and thank you cards. I was going to wait until we got the disc of pictures from the photographer and have our thank you cards made up with one of those pictures. He said it would be about 2 weeks. |
ugh, the after work is crazy huh? We are still writing thank you notes, we finally opened a bank account together. We are almost done the notes, but then after that, we have to pick 80 pics for our album and then we need to make albums for our parents. There is still a ton of wedding related stuff to do even after the wedding! Plus changing your name, new license, Credit card info, passport, uggghhh! Linz, your day will be perfect! Don't stress on the small stuff. Black shoes will still look GREAT with teal dresses with teal sashes. I know it's not what you wanted and I'm glad they can change it (of course they can) but please hunny, you are going to look back and laugh after its done and be like "Why did I care soooooo much?" LOL I think maybe my grandmother dying a month before my wedding put everything into perspective for me. There were so many things I could have flipped about..... but truth was, I wanted to marry my fiance. As long as he, I and our JP showed up and by the end of March 24th I was married to the greatest guy in the world for me, it was going to be the best day of my life. :) :) Oh my gosh, did you girls see on the news the couple that got married in Canada and all their wedding pics were blurry, or zoomed so far out you can't make them out? Terrible! I feel so bad for them. Really when the day is over you get the pictures to remember it. They won't have pics and you can't recreate the day again. They are trying to get their money back, but man for me, that just wouldn't make things ok at all. Imagine not having 1 good pic of your wedding day? |
8 weeks and 2 days left for me!!! Who else is still counting down? My biggest issue with the dresses is that they screwed them up from the start, and it's really just giving us a whole lot more hassle! The second bridesmaid dress is still not in so if it's not there tomorrow I'm calling and trying to track it down... We ordered originally 5 months ago and I will see that bridesmaid for the last time next weekend! Our RSVPs keep coming in the mail :) We've had a few no's so far, and I'm hoping we get a few more just so we get the minimum lol! I feel bad saying that but I am not a big crowd kind of person and not good at being centre of attention, so I want the smallest crowd possible! My bridal shower is next weekend in my hometown so I'm pretty excited for that :) Oh and we start marriage prep meetings with our minister on Tuesday! I feel like time is going by so fast since I started counting in weeks instead of months! |
DON'T FORGET THE PICS!!! Don't worry, it will all be fine!!! Relax and enjoy every moment...!!! |

4 months for me!! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Ack! Today is 4 weeks that we've been married...I can't believe how the time flies! We are still waiting for both our photos and videos. I am not a very patient waiter. DH also wants to use one of our professional pics for our thank you cards, so we haven't done those yet either. We stopped by the restaurant where we had our reception today to give a little thank you to the coordinator there who put everything together for us. We ordered her a cookie basket (Cookie Gift Baskets | Cookies | Cookie Bouquet | Cookie Bouquet Delivery), which I thought was adorable and different. She loved it! Best of luck to those of you still planning! |
The cookie basket is a great idea!!! We had a meeting with our pastor last night for marriage prep. He originally told us he'd do 4 or so informal meetings with us becuase the church we are being married in no longer offers its own formal classes. So he talked a little bit about how to treat each other and that he has refused to marry couples who are going through rough patches and think a marrige will fix things etc. At the end of it, he said we seem to have a good handle on our relationship and have realistic expectations, and he will not need to see us again until the rehearsal!!! Or of course, we can call him if we have any issues. But otherwise, I guess we're prepared lol! I feel like I still have a million things to do in the next few weeks :( My fiance's groomsmen let me know they will be kidnapping him from work and keeping him for the whole weekend 2 weeks before our wedding. First of all they were going to take him a couple of days before and I was so stressed out! We can't afford to lose days of work because we are already taking some time without pay for the honeymoon. Anyways, I tried to explain and they said okay, they'll make sure it's just a few hours on a Friday, and then they'll have him for the weekend. It's a surprise to him and he doesn't want to know anything but I'm still pretty stressed because we are going to be SO BUSY trying to get the last minute things done! We work full time so we can't do these things during the week :( I thought his bachelor party might be just one night or something. |
Oh, you are so lucky you don't have to do the marriage prep stuff! We had to spend a Saturday and a Sunday (6 hours each!) at marriage prep. It was sort of annoying since I am a Catholic School teacher, and probably could have taught the course myself. DH is Jewish, so it was 12 wasted hours of his life. We finally got our pictures back from David's Bridal. I'm not overly thrilled, to be honest. I actually cried all night after I first saw them. They just didn't come out like I had hoped they would. The photos seem so stiff and posed. No cute shots of us giggling together, sharing a secret smile, or him with his arms around me. The church shots are particularly bad, because they are mostly of our backs (Monsignor wouldn't let the photographer too close to the altar). To me the pictures don't reflect the absolutely perfect wedding day that we had. I just wish I had done better research on a photographer, instead of going with DB because it was cheap and easy. It's a mistake I will have to live with for the rest of my life. Now we have the fun task of trying to pick pictures for our thank you cards. Ugh. |

What I found really funny was, my husband asked him for the traditional hands with rings pic and he said he was surprised, he didn't think we wanted traditional pics like that. Well... uuummm... why the 800 posed family pics then? I haven't told my husband how disappointed I am with the wedding pics, but I really am. I thought he could have done more fun & creative and DEFINITELY more shots of just my husband & I. There are barely ANY of just us 2. |
I am so sorry both of your pictures didn't turn out well!!! I am hoping mine are done well. I guess I'll be sure to have a list of pictures I want for sure! A friend of mine complained that her pictures were ALL fun and there was only one or two nice posed ones. In her case though, she didn't even get the pictures without a fight. And she only got a portion of them 6 months after the wedding, and had to touch them all up herself. The photographers blocked their number  They now have an "F" rating with the BBB! |
Linz... where you at???? Haven't seen you post in awhile about the wedding! Everything going ok? |
I am still here!! Busy, busy, busy! We got the bridesmaid dress situation sorted out. One belt is changed and the second should also be ready now, but that bridesmaid will just pick it up when she comes to the city later this month. Luckily she needs no alterations! We had another situation ordering the flower girl dresses. We found the ones we loved, ordered them, and then got a phone call later saying they're discontinued! So I had to find new ones online and order those, so I wouldn't have to take the girls out of school again (my weekends have been booked!) I had my bridal shower and bachelorette party in my hometown a few weeks ago. On my way home, I stopped at Burger King (I never eat there, but we were driving a friend home as well and she said she'd buy it for us). That friend and I both had a chicken sandwich, and that night we both realized we had food poisoning!! I was sick for a couple of days, so the shower and the party later were a little painful to go through! But they were great anyway! Since I was so sick, my bridesmaid and friends decided they wanted to throw me another bachelorette party here in my city! I didn't need one but they insisted. It will be next weekend, the 16th! We have bought all our gifts for everyone helping out with the wedding and our wedding party. We have almost all of our RSVP's in. Today I am going for my first hair trial (I will go for another in a couple of weeks, I want to try one updo and one down, so I have a choice depending on the weather that day!) My dress is in alterations right now (just need a little taken in at the bust!). I'm trying to break in my wedding shoes, but they're still a little painful after an hour of wearing them! I am waiting for my veil to come in the mail, since I ordered it from Etsy :) 4 and a half more weeks to go! |
Oh, funny story at my bridal shower!!! My MOH is my best friend from my hometown. That morning, she came by and asked me a bunch of random questions, sort of like those email surveys that used to go around between friends. Anyways, at the shower she handed out sheets to everyone with those same questions to fill out about me. There were prizes for the most answers right. Yeah, that's a good idea. Then she was like "Back in 1999 I decided to survey all my friends and now we will see how different Lindsey's answers are now from then" LOL! I had no idea!!! So back then, when I was 15, when I grew up I guess I wanted to be "Josh Hartnett's wife" lol! He was an actor and I thought he was sooooo hot. I also had considerably more hobbies when I was 15 than I do now lol. It was pretty funny! |
Thats hysterical! I can't believe she did that and saved it for all these years! How fun! Wow, you are down to the wire now! It must be flying by for you now! For me the last 2 weeks were crazy!!! Then the few days before were like NOTHING to do! 2 days before the wedding I dropped off everything at the vendors. Then there was nothing to do but pick up people at the airport and the rehearsal dinner. It was a weird feeling! I hope you are having FUN being engaged and the bride-to-be! Once the wedding is over, that attention is over too, so enjoy it! :) haha |
