We have not done any cheesy pictures, and we also didn't have an engagement party. I kind of wish someone would have thrown us an engagement party though!

We did not have an engagement party so to speak either. The day we got engaged turned into such the party that I had to call out of work the next day, so did my fiance because we had about 20+ people come over and hang out and about 8 bottles of champagne... it was NUTS! Guess that was our engagement party! LOL

Oh that sounds like a great engagement party!!! We were in Italy with a tour group, and it was also my birthday :) I got birthday cake that night and had a heck of a time trying to figure out time zones and get a phone to work to call my mom while she was at home! But I had tons of congratulations from the tour group and even though it wasn't a "party" it was still a great time.

I have to comment again on your wedding dress - I love how there is a slit where the tulle poofs through; that's a great detail!

That is so exciting!!! I used to send Scott pictures of rings I liked all the time lol! When we were walking in the mall and he started pulling me into jewelry shops, I knew it was getting serious :) When they start taking initiative, it probably means something! Congratulations ahead of time lol! I loved "planning" my wedding before I got engaged, but then after getting engaged it suddenly got a lot more stressful lol!

We also shop for future kids too :) We rarely walk by a baby section without walking through and picking out our future nursery furniture, high chairs, play pens, etc. :D It's fun to dream!

As far as invitations, where did/are you getting yours? David seems to want invitations even though it's only immediate family and one set of close friends (so I don't need a lot).

We got print-your-own invitation kits from Michaels. I think they were regular price around $45 for 40 invitations in a kit, but we used coupons. Pretty much every bridal magazine you can find will have a 40% off coupon for one item at Michaels! We just went back multiple times :D So we ended up paying around $27 for 40 invitations.

Thank you linz. My fiance will raise an eyebrow since I've sworn off Michaels due to their way over-inflated prices, but as long as I bring a coupon I think I can swallow my pride and buy one pkg of invitations.... maybe :D

Oh I know I rarely go to Michaels! I just really loved their invitations though :) We also got a 50% off coupon in their flyer that could be used on sale items, so we bought one of those picture frames with a bunch of cut-outs to use for a seating chart! It was already on sale for 40% off and we got an additional 50%. I don't think I'd buy anything there full price, but I think they have nice stuff if you can use coupons :)

Actually, my matron of honor works in a Michaels, and when I was telling her I wanted a basket of "dancing shoes" (flip flops) by the dance floor, she said she thought she saw some of last year's stock and she'd talk to her manager about buying them since they won't sell them again this year. Today she texted me and she got 46 pairs of flip flops for $6. It is so nice to have connections lol!!! I was so amazed with her!

Nice!! It is definitely good to know people who work at lots of different places. Sadly, I only seem to know other accountants, and they can't help me at all with a wedding :rolleyes: LOL

I actually skipped our bridal show last weekend! I went to one in the fall and there were tons of great ideas, but a million people calling me (still) trying to sell things that I don't want. I am not good at saying no lol so it's uncomfortable for me! I'm glad you had a great day though! I do like the free goody bags :D

We just got home from our engagement shoot! Our photographer was awesome and made us feel really comfortable which was good! He said it will be about 4 weeks before we get our retouched photos since he just did three weddings that he is also working on. Good enough for me! It was sooooooooo cold though and I thought my fingers were going to fall off at any moment! In between locations I had my hands bundled up inside my shirt sleeves lol. Luckily there is still a lot of snow around the river, although the river isn't even frozen over yet. It's wintery enough for me!

Oh there will be time. My wedding is March 24th and my first dress alter is Feb 16, that is what the bridal store set up too, based on the wedding date! You'll have plenty of time! :)
I had a 6 month engagement also. Engaged in Sept, married in March! We are having an 'off season' wedding, which around here is Nov - March. That means that vendors are freed up a lot allowing them to cater to you more and work with a short engagement. Its worked out wonderfully so far! we'll see how it goes on the wedding day! YIKES!!!! :)
I can't believe it, 54 days to the wedding! Time is FLYING by!

We made 95 8oz jars of homemade grape jelly from the Concord grapes in our yard for favors. We boiled them, strained them, made the jelly and canned them all!!! It was 3 full days of work, then we made labels for every jar and tied ribbons/bows around the lids. We are going to put stickers on the top of every jar with people's names and table (placecards) so people take the jelly home! We finally finished them this past friday night (except the placecard part), what a relief!!!! Our centerpieces have a bunch of little pieces, but we took wine bottles (empty of course) and spray painted them with chalkboard spray paint. We are naming the tables different wines, which we will write on the bottles. Then we have a bunch of fake grapes and votive holders with those LED votives, my mom made the holders, they are wine corks glued together and onto a cork coaster with a white ribbon tied around them. We got the wine bottles all sprayed, so now I need to put ribbon on those ... and then I'm done all wedding presentation prep work! YAY!!!!! :D

I don't know, but my invitations had a ribbon around them and the postage was $.64 because it can't go through the sorting machine. If you aren't sure, take a sample one to the post office, they will tell you for sure and help you. Hoe exciting for you!!!!

We bought an invitation kit from Michaels... I will save the story about the coupon and the swearing for another time :rolleyes:

We are going to get a consultation with a decorator tomorrow night. Now that we have decided to have our ceremony in our house, Oz will of course be a big part of our day. Any recommendations on where we can get him a tux???
