| ![]() Hi and Welcome Back! If I may.... Buck is surely handsome... I venture to guess a RhodieXMastiff cross. Heartwarming story... I agree that Fate played a part in it. ![]()

| ![]() Thank you all so much for the well-wishes for Buck. He's actually doing better every day. It's been a week and he's now starting to use the broken leg some. He still walks like an old man, but a definite improvement! He must be feeling better as we're starting to see more of his personality. I found out yesterday that he likes to shake hands. He can only do it lying down as his balance isn't too good yet. Anyway, when he would offer his paw, he would snarl at me in a playful way and his face showed so many wrinkles when he did that. Really cute. Kathy, you may be on the right track about what mix Buck is. My brother has a RR and he made the same comment. It doesn't explain his wrinkles, though but some type of mastiff might. I said Bulldog earlier because there are so many around here and that would explain his broad head and muscle tone but not the wrinkles. The HS said Chow mix due to, I suppose, his purple tongue. And then there's the peppering of black on his head, tail and saddle area which reminds me of a Shepherd. Ah, he's just a big ole lovable dawg! ![]() We go the vet's next Friday for suture removal and an evaluation on scheduling his next surgery. With his progress so far, I expect that might happen within the next 2 weeks. I'll keep y'all posted with updates....hopefully it's all good news!

| ![]() Wow...I just pulled up this thread and realized it's been six months since I've been on YT! Anyway, just wanted to update on Buck. Buck is finally on his way to being 100%. When I took him to the vet back in January, he wanted to leave the pin in for a while longer, like another month. Okay so we did that and on his checkup a month later, the vet was leaning towards wanting to leave the pin in and watch his progress, saying that many times pins are left in. True enough...my Scarlett has had a pin in her front leg for several years now. Well, Buck seemed to plateau in his recovery with still *some* lameness. Really, going by the condition I found him in, I wasn't that surprised. In fact, I felt he was lucky to be alive. Then, last month he started to get some swelling in his hip area. It got really bad quick. In just a couple of days, the swelling filled the palm of my hand. Back to the vet. This time a different vet saw Buck and kept him for surgery and removed the pin. His recovery went well and the difference is now night and day. Buck has found another gear (or 2 LOL). He is able to run and now can stand on his hind legs at the fence or on us to greet us (he nearly knocks my wife over). He is MUCH happier and seems to be in zero pain now. So, we get Buck taken care of and then last Friday we had to take one of our rescue cats in for a tail amputation. So now we're nursing another one. If it's not one thing, it's another. Honestly, one of these days I'll come back for some actual Yorkie talk. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() I've been thinking and wondering about you so much lately...and was just about to drop you an email...and here you are. It's SO great to see you here; you're missed by a lot of people here ![]() Very happy to hear Buck is on the mend - and that he's finding his wild(er) side in the process, good for him; he's probably been holding in all that energy so that he could let it rip when he was feeling better. I hope your rescue kitty heals quickly, poor kiddo ![]() Don't be a stranger, we miss ya! So great to see you. ![]()

| ![]() It's wonderful to hear from you again. I wondered where you went. ![]() I'm very glad Buck is doing well now. You're his hero! So sorry your kitty had to have a tail amputation. That would make it rough for the kitty. Don't they need their tails for balance?

| ![]() Welcome back! Good news about Buck but sorry for that poor cat. I'm sure both of them plus your other rescues know that they have a great home. Thank you for helping the little ones who can't help themselves.

| ![]() Jim, I don't know you but you certainly seem to have a heart of gold. Wondeful news that Buck is doing so well and wish the same for the cat. In 2011 you started out saying you are a political junkie and that is what I mentioned after coming back after years of not being on this great site. Right now I'm working for a political candidate and it is taking up a good deal of my time. Nothing political allowed here so that is all I will say. Loving Yorkies, Buck and Cats is more fun. ![]()

| ![]() Thank you all so much for the well wishes for Buck and the cat (Maureen). This place has such a homey feel to it; I don't think I could ever truly 'leave'. I probably should say something about what happened to Maureen. Frankly, we just don't know. She lives outside with the other cats (except in the winter) and she's always around. We didn't see her for a couple of days, were getting worried and then the neighbor's son said he had seen her and her tail was messed up. It took a couple more days before we caught a glimpse of her and he was right. She wouldn't come to us but it was easy to see that she had a real issue with her tail. The whole middle section was hairless and dark. That's about all we could tell. It turns out she was hiding under the neighbor's house and finally she came out to eat, but still wouldn't let us near her. After a couple of days of this, we finally got a good look at her. The whole middle section of her tail was hairless and the flesh was turning black. It took 2 more days before we got her caught and to the vet. Of course, amputation was the only thing to do. She has about 3 inches of tail left now. I'm only guessing, but think maybe she came in contact with a high-voltage wire and got a severe electrical burn. That's the only thing that makes sense from the look of her. Anyway, she's now doing well. She's back to hanging out on the front porch with the other cats and acting like her old self. The only thing is she's gotten a little gun-shy of us since we have to give her antibiotics twice a day and she does NOT like that! She goes back a week from Friday for stitch removal and then should be just fine. Oh, and about 2 weeks ago we acquired another cat. She's a beautiful very large short-haired solid grey that just showed up one day at feeding time and hasn't left. She's looks to be well taken care of but no one has come looking for her and none of the neighbors know anything about her. I don't know if she just found us or was dropped off here. None of the other cats seem to mind, so she can stay if she wants. She's very tame and let us pet her the first day we saw her. And, yup, I have been involved with politics lately, which explains my absence. I actually found another YTer on a political forum and that got me to missing coming here. The avatar was a dead giveaway ![]() Jim
