Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Halloween Haters?? Ok guys I live in the small bible belt town of Harlan KY and I and other people that celebrate Halloween have been getting bashed! I mean I am not exactly a Christian I by no means live a perfect life but, I do believe in God and that Jesus died for me. Im not meaning to rant but man I'm so tired of the "Christians" in this town sending me to He** me because I dressed up my baby and took him trick or treating. Really ??? IDK but I always thought God was suppose to do the judging.... I was just wondering if anyone else is going through this?? Ohh yeah Im attaching the pict they are plastering!

| They are referring to All Hallows Eve which was created in direct conflict with all saints day tomorrow. It was a neat for the pagans and heathens to dress up like monsters and do witchcraft and bring evil spirits out. that's the HISTORY of Halloween. HISTORY you know like in the PAST!! If you wanna fight them on it tell them hey did you know that Christmas is also a holiday created by pagans??? Anyways it's not the "Christians" so much as the radical and outrageous people that have problems. True Christians with a sound faith in Jesus realize that we can celebrate a fun night of dressing up and getting candy without having to celebrate the pagan religion. Enjoy your Halloween! Enjoy the kiddos! and don't let radical beliefs put a damper on things. Those with true faith don't usually cause she a ruckus because they would talk out of LOVE and not Hate. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Their suggestion to "do the research" is kind of funny, if what I recently heard on the History channel is true. Trick or treating is thought to have begun with beggars knocking on doors for "Soul Cakes", in exchange for promising to pray for those souls in purgatory. It's sad that some in society can take what most perceive to be an innocent kid's holiday and turn it into another religion based argument.

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Shew it just get under my skin I have had the history of all the holidays in collage and it's not like I am calling up my dead or anything I just took my kid trick or treating. It was most of the churches around here they picked with signs at the popular trick or treat spots That said stuff like "The devil comes in sweet package's!" and "Is a piece of candy wort an eternity in he**?" It was just a little too intense for me!

| I consider myself a christian but am not super religious about it if that makes sense. Myself and my family do celebrate Halloween and have come across these type of people. I don't celebrate whatever Halloween might have started as or whatever some people may think is evil about it but have always thought of it as a fun day for the kids and the family. We have fun dressing up and the night out together trick or treating. It is more like a fun start to the holiday season and have never met anyone personally that celebrate it anything more than that. I suppose those people are around but that is not what Halloween is to me. I find the whole thing rediculas, ask those same Christians if they celebrate Christmas (I do) and they will tell you of course they celebrate the birth of Christ. I say do the research, Christmas did NOT originate as celebrating the birth of Christ and actually goes against what Christ commands. " Can Christ be Honored by Christmas? The most common justification that one will hear regarding Christmas is that people have replaced old pagan customs and intents by asserting that they are now “focusing on Christ.” I have heard many say that they are “honoring Christ” in their Christmas-keeping. The problem is that God does not say this is acceptable to Him! Actually, He plainly commands against it! Keeping Christmas dishonors Christ! He considers everything about it to be an abomination! We will soon see why. Christ said, “But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matt. 15:9). Christmas is not a command of God—it is a tradition of men. Christ continued, “Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition” (Mark 7:9). Every year, throughout the world, on December 25th, hundreds of millions do just that! We will see that God plainly commands, “Follow not the way of the heathen.” But most people do not fear God, and He allows them to make their own decisions. Human beings are free moral agents—free to obey or disobey God! But woe to those who ignore the plain Word of God!" If you don't want to have fun on Halloween don't answer your door and stay in. Just my humble opinion.

| Halloween - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I was looking it up more. this claims Halloween was CREATED by the church or catholic faith. so it's not even pagan at all it's actually a day of the dead much like dia de los muertos in spanish culture. the bread is a similar thing as well. it's a day to pray that souls make it to heaven before they celebrate the saints that already are in heaven. so it's a good thing not a bad thing!! and anymore like i said it's just a fun filled kiddie holiday unless you make a big stink out of it and make it into something more. those people sound like that weird church that protests funerals of military men which to me those horrible people are prob going to hell for their actions and are not showing the love and truth of God to anyone. |

Where we used to live we had a group of houses that were quite religious but we were happy to go by their houses on Halloween as they decorated for Halloween and dressed up and happily handed out candy bags with scripture added in. They were happy to have fun and we were happy to read their messages as they were never ugly and always delivered with respect and fun.

| those i kinda understand. i'm not a big fan of either of those because of the nature of each. i've never seen or read about either of them, but i do know the reasons were because of intese scenese of witchcraft and demonic ideas. i think if you are strong in your faith you can enjoy just about anything without it effecting your beliefs or shaking you off the rock you stand on. while i didn't really get into harry potter and don't think it belongs to be promoted in church i don't see anything wrong with people that want to read it enjoying it. there are worse things they could be doing. |

| then again i don't PROTEST anything. to each his own. someone actually worshipping the devil isn't hurting me any as long as they leave me out of it then i don't see why i should freak out. to each his own understanding and knowledge and beliefs. i try to show people Jesus by being a light and example of His love. not by being hateful and pushing people away. |

| I wouldn't worry to much about it, some people have nothing better to do than try to make someone feel bad only because they have no joy in their lives.. As someone else mentioned halloween is a childs holiday and as a child i looked forward to it as my children did...make good memories with your child umpkin5 :

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Ahh I read them all in grade/high school they were worth what was called AA points and lots of them because they were so long I did enjoy them they are written on like a 4th grade level so it was an easy fun read. And I totally agree if your strong in faith you can enjoy stuff for fun. It all kinda freaked my 3 year old out today he ask me several times "Why are those people screaming at me?" and I was stumped on what to say to him so I just told him it wasn't at him they were screaming at the devil....then he said "But Im not the devil...." so...it was all just way confusing ...

| Poor kiddo! Such a shame, do they not realize they are not being good ambassadors of good Christians? As someone else mentioned above, you can't draw people into Christianity by showing the world you are clearly a warped fanatic? To show people Jesus you have to show them the good and the love not the hatred.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm not religious, but I'm pro-religious-choice. I'm not celebrating Halloween this year (forgot the candy !), but I'm pro-Halloween . I'm all for great discussions. However, I'm also pro-peace. So, in the name of pro-peace, I have to close this thread -- even though everyone has been marvelously calm. We don't allow religious threads (even calm ones ) at YT bc of what has happened in the past w/ threads that start discussing religion. To those celebrating: Happy Halloween! To those not celebrating: Happy Monday!
