| ABC News is reporting the owner set the animals free then killed himself. They say there is "only" a Grizzley Bear, Mountain Loin and Monkey still free but they can't be certain about that. Taken from the article: "The man who is believed to have set the animals free, Thompson, 61, was recently released from prison after serving one year on federal weapons charges. According to investigators he has been cited in the past for animal abuse and neglect." How was this man able to have these animals in the first place? | I feel so very sorry for the animals. What I'd like to know is doesn't someone need a special license or something to show they are qualified to have an animal refuge? And does the state inspect these places to see for themselves who is running it? |

| I am so upset over this. All those beautiful, majestic animals are now dead and at no fault of their own. This is just terrible.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I saw this all over the news, and it just breaks my heart. These beautiful animals put into an awful situation all around. I wish the man would've just gotten a message to a zoo, rather than put these animals' lives at risk. I understand his decision making wasn't in a place of logic, but still...so sad .

| There need to be better laws in place for these kind of things to stop occurring. These people who almost always start out with a fascination for a wild animal quickly grow into wanting more and more. It's a shame that these animals had to pay with their lives for one man's senseless desires...not to mention putting the lives of his community at risk as well. I have a personal understanding for Suicide but, absolutely no compassion when the act puts others at risk...shameful!

| Well hopefully this incident will wake up lawmakers and see that they need to inact a better law to prevent something like this from happening again!
