I just heard that several transformers in the city of Fort Smith have blown and parts of town have no power. :(

I am trying to conserve as much as I can. My A/C is set at 78. Try not to leave anything plugged in unless it is in use. We are eating lots of salads.
I have a good friend who lives in Fort Smith, I guess I need to call and check on her. I know they were hotter than we were yesterday and today.

Yep the squirrels do that here at my house as well. I haven't seen them much today at all. Or rather I should say Allie hasn't seen them that much today. LOL

I so remember that was the one year I had a car without AC. WTH was I was thinking living in Texas and buying a car without AC, I was young them I could handle anything. LOL

It's been in the nineties here with like 99% humidity. YUCK!

I usually love summer but am ready for fall. But not for Winter!

:ip: Just lovely.... 83, at 5:30p.m., and I'm heading out for a dip in the ocean (hope it's not too chilly) :D :ip:

But before moving to Maui I lived in Arizona, and remember the highest temp I ever witnessed there was 128.... and I'll never ever forget it.

Well, it's 11:02 PM here northeast of Dallas and the temp is 90 degrees!!! A-C still coming on very often. Tibbe is wanting to go out and potty and there is something just wrong about opening the door at almost midnight for your dog to go outside one last time and getting a blast of heat in your face.

For those of you that are going through this heat, what do you do to accommodate for the pups? No walks? Short walks? It must be hot on their paws to walk outside.

Wow, it makes me feel faint to see some have triple digit temps, not just heat indexes. I thought I wouldn't make it when the air was out & it was 95+ in the house.

It says it's 68 out right now & it feels like the humidity has taken a break. I'm actually planning an outdoor afternoon with the pup for the first time since May.:eek: Supposed to be 83 tomorrow, seems tolerable.

No walks at all in 109 - 110. You could grill a T-bone steak on the sidewalk so I don't want him spending any time on it. I just let Tibbe play outside in the yard for 4-5 minutes after pottying and of course we play like demons in the house with him running and chasing all the toys he has me endlessly throw. Then we run through his training and behavior lessons x2 daily and with his endless running about patrolling his house, he's pretty well pooped by 6 - 7:00 p.m.

We had them in the winter- never had them in summer that I can remember.

My AC went out this evening about 9 pm. Thank God we have a portable AC unit that usually stays in the garage! AC guy will be here at 8:30-luckily he lives across the street from us!!!

Thank goodness for backups..mine went out this week to, but was able to get someone out here to fix it the same day we stayed in the basement with a portable :)

We are in Middle, GA. It is so hot and humid. Yesterday, it was 108 here at my house. Then with the awful, GA humidity, felt like it was 115. My husband works out in the heat, as do my sons. They are litterally drenched when coming back inside.
I am SOOOO past ready for fall. It is my favorite time of year anyway. But, it can't come soon enough.
My poor yorkies don't even want to go out. Our outside animals (horses, sheep, goats) are just pitiful.

I live on the coast...Falmouth which is Cape Cod Mass. We have been "hot" for us, a couple of days in the 90's and some humidity. However, we generally stay cooler here than the city. I would never make it at 110, I think I would melt!

It's shot and we need a new one (it was 30 yrs old) but the AC guy is 10 days out on repairs and installation. Even the dogs are miserable. We have the portable in the bedroom with doors shut everywhere and I even got ghetto and hung sheets in a doorway that doesn't have a door. We have 2 units, upstairs and downstairs and the upstairs is still working so that's a plus, but it's expensive to replace AC in the hottest part of the summer.


Everyone please just pray for rain. Lots and lots of cold rain!!!

Im sorry! Our central air went out and we went out and got a window air. The next day we wanted to get a 2nd one and they were all gone everywhere. At least our living room has air and our bedroom has an old unit that really needs replaced but it does okay for this yr. I really feel for everyone that doesnt have air in this heat

It rained here for like 20 minutes on Wednesday evening!!! :eek: :p The temperature dropped 20 degrees in no time but then it was right back up to 110* the next day. :rolleyes: It's 10:30am and my computer thermometer says 94* out so that's not too bad I guess lol.

It's pretty funny because Lily would spend most of her days outside (we have a doggy door) and now she's inside about 99% of the time. She doesn't even care to bark at the dog next door! :confused: lol

Right now it is 105 degrees. Which is like a cold front compared to the 115 degrees on Wednesday. This is just terrible. It looks like back to 109 tomorrow. :(

Looks like they have take rain out of our forecast but at least for the weekend we are out of the Ercot energy emergency and we can all turn our A-C's down a bit. It is 104 now at almost 7:00 p.m.! But at least next week we should have a bit lower temps by a degree or so - unless they revise that, too!

Nope they will still have problems, cause people will feel they can lower the settings on the AC and more people are home on the wek-end than during week, so that more electric use. I just can't believe all the problems they are having. They need update their system so bad.

Oh, gosh, they told us on Channel 8 this evening Ercot said no energy crisis this weekend and we could use appliances and A-C as usual. Now I'm worried again. I have been turning off the TV, lights and fan when I leave the room. I have had my thermostat at 80 degrees all week and unplugged every appliance except the fridge unless I am using it. Every afternoon, I have turned off my TV and surround system for 1 - 2 hrs and even unplugged my computer and modem during the 4 - 6 time slot. I was going to try to live normally this weekend but guess better not.

Cannot wait until I see the leaves beginning to fall!

It got up to 113 today in the Tulsa area. A few nights ago it was 100 degrees at midnight. :eek: Today I had a new roof put on my house -- they worked ALL day until 7 pm on the roof in 100+ temps. I don't know how they do it. I have to watch my myself to not complain about it for 5 minutes outside. :rolleyes: and Heidi certainly doesn't like it. Good thing she prefers puppy pads to going outside.

I don't know how people work out in the sun for hours when it is that hot! I had my garage cleaned out today and it was 104 at about 5:00 p.m. when they started. It was so hot in that garage where they were working you got soaking wet just standing there pointing out things, let alone working moving things and cleaning, etc. I felt so sorry for those guys but they insisted they had rather do it tonight instead of one morning next week, so they did it! I took 3 showers today - my regular one this afternoon and then 2 more after excurions outside to show them things in the garage! And I heard on the news tonight, almost as hot all next weekas this one! I hope our electric grid hold out! If not, we're fried!
