I've liked the facebook page, it's a great cause as so many people die needlessly from drowning. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Thank you guys! We went from 71 'likes' yesterday to 111 today! Awesomeness!

We received this email a few days ago and this is what makes it worth it.

So… here is a brief summary. During this school year 2010-11, Connor Cares/Edward Knudsen Jr. fund awarded 164 scholarships to students who could not afford our reduced fee of $14.00. Many of these children would not have attended the Drownproofing Program because the families were afraid to ask or just did not know to ask for financial help. Our attendance usually averages about 95% participation of actual 5th grade students attending. This year, 96% of actual fifth grade students attended! We were also able to purchase 18 very nice Speedos for the girls thanks to Metro Swim wear who gave us a great deal and 12 boy’s/men’s bath suits. Some we never got back from students who borrowed them… some we have been able to use for others multiple times who did not own a bathing suit. All of this has been made possible because of you and your family’s generosity.

I am SO passionate about this cause. Obviously. But yes this will be a mission of mine for the rest of my life. I am really loving everything that I have been doing. A lot of "PR" work behind the scenes going on right now with some celebrities and it's SUCH a cool feeling. I really love it. I will make this foundation nationwide one day, I just will.

Ever since Connor died, I realize how often drowning truly does happen. And how quickly. Ya know, people are so quick to judge parents but I think people just don't realize how a few seconds can turn deadly around water for kids. That's why our goal is to just make people aware, because so many people aren't. Florida, California, Arizona, Texas, etc, warm climates where people swim more often, it's actually the leading cause of death in children 14 and under.

Something else that's been happening more lately is children getting their intestines ripped out of them from pool drains. A law recently passed here after a senator's (I think) granddaughter died this way.

It also happened to this little girl.... Abbey's Hope
