I love pizza and pasta too. I could literally eat pizza every day, but that would not be healthy so I don't. My favorite colors are all hues of pink, as for sparkles that made me smile when I read your post. I just hired someone for work from England, it was delightful calling the UK and hearing all those beautiful accents when I was conducting the reference checks. I love to travel too, I traveled quite a bit all over the US for my previous job. My favorite place to travel without a doubt is California. :) |

-I'm Lindsey and I'm 27-years-old. -I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada, and lived on a farm until I was 18 and I moved, on my own, to Japan. I lived in Japan for nearly a year and then moved myself to Tennessee to go to school and because I just had known for a long time that it was where I was supposed to go. -I met my American husband here and we have been married for 5 1/2 years. -I am fortunate to be able to stay at home with my dog. -I am a volunteer teacher for 3 & 4-year-old class of kids at church on Sundays. -I used to show beef cattle when I was growing up and did pretty well with it. -I'm very artistic and terrible at math. -I have been interested in history since I was a little kid. I really enjoy English history, particularly renaissance. -I like to garden. -I get headaches almost daily. It's difficult to always not feel very good. -I studied and trained in classical voice for over 10 years. -I worry a lot...especially about my dog. He has MVD and has been sick a lot in the year we have had him. Although he stresses me out, he is my joy! -I am terrible at making decisions. -I am the oldest child in my family. -I'm very good at being frugal and I'm good at couponing. -I love listening to talk radio and audio books. -I have basically been a vegetarian since I was 3-years-old. I think I quit eating it around that time because it was then that I found out it came from animals. I don't care if other people eat it, but I just don't have any interest in it at all. Very rarely, I will eat a little bit of hamburger, but I don't like to. -I'm very conservative. -I hate cooking and don't really care about food very much. -I'm tall...about 5'11", and it is really difficult to find pants that are long enough! |

lovespandp... this is such a sweet fun thread, and I've enjoyed reading all the posts. Soon, I'll post a bit about me, but I've been busy and am pretty private so I've just been thinking about it:D |

You can post anything you want, Don't feel like you need to give us the whole story on you, Give us what you want us to know. I think most of us love talking about ourselves and are pretty open hehe! Anything you share, we would love to hear!! :D |

That is so true!! I cant wait to hear what Viv did. I know ( how do I say this) American...? Weddings are a lot of work and that is one day!! |
This thread is AWESOME! 4 Attachment(s) I love, love, love these! I've always wished I knew more about the people behind the pups! I'm Jen and I'm 47. I live outside of Dallas. I've been married for 23 years, have an almost 20-year-old daughter (Go Sooners) and an almost 18-year-old son, who is picking a college now. I'll soon be an empty nester, after being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. :( I have four dogs , 2 Cavaliers, a Cocker/Golden mix and Zoe. Zoe was an unexpected addition after my daughter rescued her from a certain death in her previous home. I've since thanked her, as Zoe is just about the cutest, sweetest, funniest, toughest little thing ever! I love seeing all the things we all have in common! To name a few: I'm not too fond of summer--I'd prefer a cooler climate, but DH thinks it's too cold here:confused:. I have a friend whose son Geocaches and found a dead body during his search. My daughter is in love with a wonderful Greek young man, who says his life is just like My Big Fat Greek Wedding...but without the statues in the front yard. DD thinks it's awesome. I love the color pink, and while I wish I could drink Coke and Cosmos, I only drink water and green tea (sometimes a little bit of juice). I'm allergic to wheat and don't eat any sugar at all. :thumbdown I love to cook when I have lots of time to do it. I've lived in 26 homes! My favorite outfit is yoga pants and a t-shirt. I love pilates, yoga and walking, and would like to try Zumba. I spoil my yorkie...a LOT. Regarding boobs...well, the last year has changed mine: found out I had a genetic mutation for breast and ovarian cancer, so I had a total hysterectomy and double mastectomy, with 2 additional reconstruction surgeries. Plus thumb surgery! All in 12 months...over 27 hours of surgery and anesthesia. So now I'm going through a forgetful stage. :questione I had cool surgery where they used abdominal tissue for my reconstruction. A bonus, as now my stomach is very flat and my boobs look and feel real. And are. Just new...and waaaaaay perkier...and SMALLER...Yayayayayayay (but still a DD)! If anyone you know every needs a mastectomy, please talk to me, my surgery and surgeons were world class and I traveled to go to them. I'd love to meet people from YT, and hope to get the chance to do so. You are ALL GREAT! Thanks for being you! |

Still loving this thread, so much fun! Viv - do you eat/make naan? I had a friend (American guy) who married a woman whose family was Indian and it too was a days-long event. His future wife didn't really tell him what he was going to wear for all the events...so there was Brent in his first turban and everything - and his fiancee was loving every minute of it bc he had no idea what was next :). It's cracking me up that so many of us are talking boobies :D. |
i love knowing more about everyone here too! i got about half way through all the threads and hope to read them all soon! :) I am Alana. some of you know me from the weekly "Dextersodes" we release as a hobby (if not, you can see all of them in the YouTube link in my signature bar) i grew up in a small town in northern Ontario and moved to Toronto at 21 right out of college. i studied film production in school and minored in photography. i worked in the film industry for a while (biggest one i worked on was 16 blocks...a crappy Bruce Willis movie) but got out of the industry because i couldn't take the pretentious people... i met my "husband" (common law) and we have now become "serial entrepreneurs.” When we started our first business and I quit my sales job to work for myself (such a scary thing to do!!!!), I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 25. Luckily we caught it early on and I only had to go through a few surgeries and did not have to do chemo or any other chemical treatments. Even with the stresses and hardships on my from the sickness, we created a successful business which grew to the point that we could no longer handle the amount of business it was supplying and we sold it within a year of start up. Since then I have been cancer free and we have started a few other successful businesses. We run an internet marketing/web design firm and he also runs an alternative health care clinic AND I am starting yet ANOTHER business in the photography field. Film, writing and especially editing have been a passion of mine for a long time, but it is so hard to get grants, etc to get an actual film made. I knew I wanted to do something in the industry but wanted to do it on my terms. I started talking as Dexter to my husband and he kept telling me how funny it was and that I should really make a video of it and one day it just clicked. I love animals (dexter especially) and I am a fan of youtube..why not make videos of Dexter and post them! I was worried at the start that my husband and I would be the only ones to find them funny, but am amazed every day when people tell me that they think something I made was good, funny and/or entertaining. Unfortunately I have yet to make any money off of Dexter’s Ruff Life but it is my passion project and I literally can’t believe that he has soooooo many fans on YT, FB and YouTube. I am not a religious person, but I truly feel blessed to have a supporting husband that helps me shoot video of my dog talking to me and of every single person that has ever smiled from one of my videos! my goal has always been to bring a bit of laughter to a world that so desperately needs more of it. I want to bring awareness of puppymills to people also, but in the midst all of the terrible things going on in the world, we always need to take time to smile…no matter what. |

I've been reading through these as I can. I promise that I'll write mine soon. I really love getting to know everyone. Alana - I just want to tell you how much everyone loves Dexter's escapades. I've sent the links to so many of my friends that aren't even really dog people. Mother puppy is now a common phrase among my friends and me. You really are reaching people and making them smile! |

Alana - we *love* your Dexter videos. Hubby is not feeling well this morning, but he has to go to work. We watched a couple Dexter videos this morning, and we laughed - and now he's in a much better mood to go to work. See? You and Dex can change the course of someone's day :)! |
My name is Jodi I'm 46 yrs old and the oldest of three sisters. I was adopted at 5 months old. My sisters and I are very close in age and there is only an 8 month age difference between me and my middle sister and 21 months for my youngest sister. I would some day like to find my birth mother but at the same time it scares the heck out of me with all of the "what ifs". My dad passed away very young when I was only 17 and I miss him every day. We were very close and it makes me very sad to know that he did not get a chance to see me grow up or be a grandfather to my kids. My mom is 80 yrs old and I've never had a very close relationship with her. I met my husband when I was 19 and he was 23. We have been married for 25 yrs. He is my best friend and love of my life. We have 3 children~2 grown sons 24 and 22 plus our daughter Megan 15. Megan was our little miracle baby. Many years earlier I had an etopic pregnancy that ruptures and I almost died. The doctor told me afterward that I would most likely never be able to conceive again. So when I found out that I was pregnant it was just a little bit of a shock. But I finally had my little girl :) We have 3 little rescues Pebbles, Bogey and Doodlebug. I'm a member and supporter of YHR. When my boys were young, I was assistant manager for a larger craft/fabric store but I decided to be a SAHM after Megan. But that didn't last long and I jumped head on into boy/girl scout leader, cheerleading coach, Homeowner Association President, religious ed teacher, PTA board member, HS booster club volunteer and attended more kids sporting events than I can even remember. I am also a certified special education advocate and volunteered to assist writing IEPs. You name it I was volunteering and helping. My kids mean the world to me and I love being their mom. When my sons were in school there was always a houseful of kids here and I enjoyed every minute. They all call me mom even today. In 1996, I began working with our county government to bring municipal sewer and water to our area. After 3 years of meetings with the state, county and local government we were granted $2.3 million to assist with the project. It was an amazing experience that put me in front of some powerful people in the state. I've since been asked to sit on several planning committees, the most recent being a $12 million road expansion project that is in its final phase of completion. Go figure~I'm known for my calm level headed approach with the community and my ability to bring people together. At 37, I decided that I wanted go back to school and finish my associates and an now a CST (working in the OR). After graduating I worked on an Organ Procurement team doing bone and tissue harvesting for transplant surgery. So basically, I could removed every bone from your body and name them as I did it. Currently, I am a Clinical Specialist for a very small company that assists surgeons with breast cancer staging. The best part of my job is supporting the patients on the day of their surgery. I love my job and I know B@@Bies~mammos, lymph nodes, cancer staging, mastectomies, reconstruction, lumpectomies, B@@Bies are my life! :p In May '09 I was diagnoses with very rare form of Ovarian Cancer. I had a total hysterectomy and now visit my surgical oncologist every 6 months. I'm very fortunate and did not need radiation or chemotherapy and the chance of reoccurance is very small. . My cousin and I were both DXed within a week of each other, she passed away 2 years ago with month. After my surgery, I was put on a SSRI for horrible hot flashes. They could not be given HRT because of the cancer Dx and antidepressants could be safely used to control the hot flashes. Little did I know but I'm one of the lucky ones that cannot take SSRI's and had a severe reaction to the drug. That little disclaimer at the end of the TV commercials that flies by 100 MPH~every one of those symptoms was me. After having a total meltdown and scaring the cr@p out of my husband, I took a little three day vacation to the "mental health" floor of the hospital. The doctors weened me off the SSRI and told me I had the most severe reaction that they had ever seen and I was very close death! It was the most horrible experience of my life. Two years ago I slipped (in dog pee ) in my kitchen and broke my arm in three places. Due to a hysterectomy at such a young age I was now prone to breaks. I had surgery and now have a plate and 8 screws in my left wrist. After 6 month of PT, the fall has left me with permanent nerve damage and weakness in that arm. I've met some really great people on YT. There have been several that I have met several in person and built great friendships with over the years. I'm hope to be a member here for a long time to come. :) I am a fiercely loyal and have very strong opinions and convictions over many different issues that I choose to make part of my life. I'm sure that goes without saying :D |
