Donating YT 11K Club Member | Adjusting to living alone I have never lived by myself yet..I live with my mom still. However sometimes..like right now she goes away for a few days. I am beside myself. I am so used to having someone there..even if they can annoy me sometimes lol I feel isolated..bored..alone. I don't know what to do with myself. And it's only for a few days!! What do I do when i move out on my own for the first time?? I'm not used to this feeling and I don't quite like it. I like the peace and quiet but only for so long lol And of course having my dogs helps, they give me lots of company But I still feel so weird..how can i adjust to this feeling?? Anyone live by themselves..or are alone sometimes feel like this?? What do you do? Will I get used to it??? It's very depressing

| I've never lived alone, but I can totally understand what you mean. My boyfriend and I moved in together right after high school, so we went straight from our parents' houses to our apartment (we have a house now). It doesn't happen often, but sometimes he has to go to a work function that isn't close, and requires him to stay overnight. If I didn't have my yorkies, I would go nuts, feeling just like you describe. Sorry I don't have any advice, but I just wanted you to know I feel like that when left alone overnight too. |

| Moving out on your own does not mean you have to "be alone." Get a roommie. Get involved in something you enjoy. Fitness club, Church, community service project, whatever it is. If you like to be around people, find something where you can be. It's important to learn to be on your own, but that doesn't mean you have to live or be alone, it just means that you learn to be indepent rather than dependent. Good luck to you, I bet you will get it all figured out.

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Do not Worry. I have an only daughter & it was just the two of us for many years until she went away to college & had many roommates over those years. She always loved to go on trips and travel, but always wanted to come home early. Once she moved out on her own.....she said she never wanted roommates again. Of course, her furbaby and cat are lots of company for her. btw: where are those adorable babies of yours? I miss the videos, they were the Cutest!

| How can you be alone when there is all of us on YT... Seriously tho'...I do know that feeling from when I first moved out on my own many, many, many years ago and I ended up spending more time visiting home & friends till I got used to it. So, basically...I only slept at my place.

| I am a weird one that LOVES living alone. I like to go out with friends, go visit with family and then just come home to a quiet place with only my little furbutts to annoy me.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I lived alone for 20 years after college and LOVED it. No having to consult withanyone on decisions, no roommates using the last of the peanut butter, shampoo, or whatever. No on to pick up after. You do have to make an effort to be social - invite guests over or get out of the house to socialize. |

| Get married and have several children...you will be praying for some alone time!! lol My "get-away" is a bubble bath...and everyone knows...no knocking on the door, saying, "Mom..." The Yorkies; however, get to come and in and walk around the tub's edge and snap at the bubbles! In all seriousness, I remember those days and it gets better...stay in touch with friends and family. If you have a job that should keep you busy for most of the day. Get involved with work-related activities...maybe they have a bowling (example) team... When you do get your own place: Have "get-togethers" frequently...tupperware/candle/etc parties with friends, family, and co-workers. Do "theme" parties, again family, friends, & co-workers. Host the next holiday dinner, have your mom come and help (mom's really like that,----> we want to be alone, no we need to be needed, no we need a break, no, how come you never call??!!) You'll soon be so tired of hanging out with people you'll enjoy an evening at home with a good movie/book.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have only spent a few days in my 58 years alone at night. I don't mind it during the day but I still don't like being alone at night. I like to read a book, talk on the phone go work out. My dtr moved out last October and has a room mate but she said she would rather live alone. SOme people just do better alone than others.

| When I was young I lived alone for about 6 months after my roomie moved out. It was great, there is always something to do. I would cook, I would work out at the gym or outside or just in the house. Watch movies I always wanted to see, read, (this was before I had dogs). Clean, redecorate, hang pictures I never seemed to have time to do. Take a bath... there was always tons to do! When I got a bit older (late 20s, early 30s) I lived alone again, same thing, always tons to do. Now that I don't live alone anymore I almost WISH I had more alone time to be carefree or just free to do what I want to do when I want to do it. Living alone is great if you can appreciate it, stay busy or just enjoy relaxing a bit!

| Give it time. I often look forward to my wife's business trips, or my hunting trips. Alone time is good, but so is having a best friend there most of the time. |
