Survivor - Redemption Island

Russell's downfall is Russell. His game is too obvious and he didn't know or want to adjust it in order to survive or win in the past.
Rob is sneaky, but he knows how to adjust his game to fit in the tribe.

I don't think anyone will be sent back from redemption island until the merge...redemption island is just that...they will have to fight and win the challenges to get back in the game...and I think they will bring whoever wins redemption island back in at the merge...and I think that will be Russell...at that point there will be no more redemption island and the jury will start.

I agree, this is how I think it will be played. I also wonder if the producers pick certain challenges to favor one team over the other, trying to make it so the tribe that has the best chance of winning is the one with the least amount of members. It hasn't always worked. Some tribes become too weak because the members don't think about trying to stay strong until the merge. They let their emotions decide instead of their brains. This is exactly what happened this week when they intentionally lost the challenge and let a strong player go. Not very smart in my book. I also wonder if the producers will have the challenges on Redemption Island favor Russell, hoping he wins and comes back in the game. It would make for great TV, and ratings.

Yep...you two are probably right...I have a very strong feeling in my gut...Russell will be back...I will be shocked if he doesn't.

I am not sure of it, but hope for it. I must say it will be a tad bit boring without him....at least for those of us who appreciate the way he plays.

I loved the way he played the first time around because no one had any idea what he was doing. He was great to watch. It was amazing how he found the idols without the clues. He really was one of the smartest players to ever play the game. This time around, everyone knows what he is up to, so it doesn't work anymore.

I totally agree with you and I think he should have won if the vote had not been a popularity contest.

Here is a thought though. Don't you think that when the tribes are considering whom to vote off next they will have to send someone they know can beat Russell in a challenge? That is if Russell wins the next challenge and the info gets back to the tribes? Hmmmm.

I believe the producers definitely would want Russel back, but now I am wondering if one of the reasons Russel leaked info about the show is that he was bitter about not going too far. Only time will tell.

You'd be fun to watch the show with! Lol, I get so mad when they are thinking too early about the finals, it's important to stay strong before the merge, although in past shows, Russell just went over to the weaker team. I just think intentionally blowing a challenge is a really bad idea, and it's been proven to backfire in the past.

He actually was great both times....that was because none of the people in the second one had seen him yet!

He was disappointing this time in that he played the same game .... I am wondering if the time on RI might be good for him....enough alone time to consider where he made his miscalculation??? He might be back with a better game...I hope so!

Thanks. My husband and I are both Surivor Junkies. We have not missed a single episode since it started eleven years ago. Hard to believe it has been on that long and is still as good as it was in the beginning. Maybe even better. If I could watch only one show, it would be Survivor, without question. I really want my husband to try out. I keep checking to see if there will be an open casting in southern California. You never know, some day I hope to post that he is on the show

Have you read the leaks? I still haven't read them, but I get the idea that he had some pretty specific knowledge, which made me wonder, if he did stay in for quite some time. I mean if you get kicked off early, don't you go home or do you stay in a hotel somewhere? I thought only the jury people stayed on in nearby hotels? Of course, one of the other contestants could have told him what happened. I did read that they could sue him for 5 million dollars for leaking the information.

I have not read any of the leaks. All of the contestants stay on location until production is complete. They stay at another, much plusher camp, "Ponderosa," I believe is what they always call it. You can watch behind scenes video from Ponderosa on the CBS website. Russell would know the elimination order that way, and maybe heard details of what was going on in the game.

Same here, it's one of the few shows we both love. He loves the challenges, and I love the human interaction dynamic of it all. You want your husband to try out, why not you?
