| Need a reputable pit bull rescue in Illinois I was approached this afternoon by a friend who owns a pitt bull. He knows how involved I am with animals and asked me to help him place theirs. So, does anyone know of a 'reputable' pitt bull rescue in or near central Illinois? I've read some bad stories about so called rescues for high risk breeds so I thought I'd ask the members of YT...I know you all really care for animals and wouldn't steer me in the wrong direction. Thank you... |

| Thank you Patti. Even though I don't care for pitts I don't want him to end up in the wrong hands. I think placing these dogs should be done very carefully...that's why I encouraged him to let me find a reputable rescue to take the dog. Does your shelter take dogs from other areas? |

| I am also in Northern Illinois, and have no idea. I work with the Green Pup Shelter, no kill, and all dogs are fostered. You may want to ask your Vet, trainers, groomers, etc. Someone would know for sure, but a lot of Pits live in shelters for a while, and most are not placed unfortunately. |

| I just googled it and found www.BULL911.com I'm not sure, but you could call. Also check out the Animal Planet website. They have a couple Pit Bull rescue shows. Maybe there is a phone # or website that you could get in touch with them...maybe they know.

They are very careful in placing especially pit bulls as they do not want them in the wrong hands. They took in a 6 month old boxer this morning when I was there.
