What I love is being in their presence and they're all talking at the top of their lungs at the same time. My husband being from a very quiet small family use to sit in awe with so much activity. We'd leave from a family get together and he'd kind have this blank look on his face.....he'd ask me how in the heck did we carry on a conversation, did we really hear one another? What he really loves is all the kissing and hugging that goes on.

I love being Italian. Sicilian to be exact. Everything you say is so true. Makes me miss the older days when my parents were alive. I could hear my mom on the telephone from the corner when I used to get off the bus!!

Oh and I am married to an Irishman. His favorite saying is, "When you are married to a Sicilian, you learn how to duck!!"

And watch out for the "malocchio" (the evil eye) haha

That is so true. George's late mother taught me about the malocchio.

And I loved being around their family when they had gatherings -- everything was bigger than life. One of my favorite things was going through the family photo albums and having George's mom tell me her family stories. One of her favorite times was when the women got together to make pasta and spread it on a clean sheet on the bed to dry. If I did that, my pasta would be full of dog hair.
