| What should I do with my Elsa Peretti Tiffany's necklace that was given to me? So, an ex gave me this gorgeous necklace, but I don't feel comfortable wearing it around my boyfriend...so I have decided to get rid of it....but what do I do with it. I think it was a $4,500 necklace. It is platinum and has 5 beautiful diamonds on it.Its the dimonds by the yard collection. My question is where do I sell it? I hate to get rid of it but its time. PS I already asked my ex if he wanted it back when we broke up, he said no, so my only option is to sell it.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | What should I do with my Elsa Peretti Tiffany's necklace that was given to me? .....send it to me?!?! Seriously though, I would ask on a jewelers forum or somewhere that would know the best source for selling jewelry that is expensive. Could be a jeweler might sell it for you on consignment?

| If he paid $4500 for it, chances are you would get around $1500-2500 if you tried to sell it to a jeweler. You would do better on a private sale. Why not just take the stones, and have a Jeweler make a different setting, pendants or bracelet out of it. |

| Wow, what a great predicament to be in I would think Ebay would be a good place to start... You could set a reserve, and auction it off there? I wouldn't suggest selling it to a jeweler because they will just rip you off. Good luck!

| if I did sell it on ebay how would i protect myself. Get it appraise? I once sold a doggie shirt and the person said there was nothing in the box when they go it and ebay refunded them the money. I wouldn't want that to happen to this.

I wouldn't mind getting $2500 for it. I'll take it to a few places this week and see where I am.

| Good time to be selling it too -- might make a nice Christmas present! I also liked the idea of taking the stones out and making them into something else. But then maybe it would still have the ex connected to it. Selling it and using the $$ to go on a cruise with current boyfriend sounds like a good idea. Would love to see the picture when you take one for selling it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Or....rather....me? Elsa Peretti should have fairly good resale, esp if it's dia-by-Y. I love that collection, and Peretti in general. You might also want to post an add in YT's Garage Sale section...people have sold jewelry there, and computers, phones etcetera.

| When I had my bar, we used get people "pawning" stuff with us-I wound up with a drawer full of stuff. Eventually I sat down with my jeweler and had a lot of fun designing different pieces. Earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants. I also had necklaces made for my god-daughters and me that I used a few of the stones. If this is not something you want to do, maybe take it to a few reputable jewelers that are buying gold and stones for the best price. I took some of the junk gold pieces, broken necklaces and mismatched earrings and got a bunch of money for that stuff.

| On the same idea as having something else made from it, you could have your boyfriend design whatever he wants and give it to you... It would be totally his idea and his gift to you but just using recycled materials!

| The price of gold has skyrocketed. If i didn't really need the money I would put it in a drawer and keep it. You never know when you might need money and you have it. In the meanwhile it is an investment because gold is going up!!
