I bought one of those smoking BBQ grills from Wal-Mart. Has the main part of the grill and then on the side has where you put in the charcoal and wood. So far I have done a beef brisket and a boston butt on there and they have turned out great. The meat is just falling apart as I am pulling it off the grill. It is kind of hard to say how long exactly it takes to cook. I try and keep the temp around 200 to 300 degrees. I got me some mesquite wood that I am gonna use to cook the chicken on. I am still trying to find some body that has apple wood and peach wood for sale. That definitely adds a great flavor to the meat. |

I had bought the real, real, real, cheap drum style grill from Walmart. I think it was about a $100. I tried it twice then threw it to the curb. I'm wondering if yours would happen to be showing any symptoms of the same problem this one had; Because it was a small grill, it had a small firebox on the side. The box was so small, there wasn't much room under the fire grate. The ash quickly fills up the small space under the grate preventing the flow of fresh air and thus over dampening the fire. In addition, the wall of the box prevents ash sweeping as long as there is a fire. Do you see your grill exhibiting any of the above failings? I trust you'll be honest with me to report your grill's shortcomings?:D You're going to love mesquite chicken. Even if you dry up the chicken, it's amazing and you can claim you meant to do it.:yelrotflm |

Are we pulling AY's MAN CARD? Or do we just give him a break, this time? ;) |

As for you BBQers, you all make me sick. Here's a picture of my BBQ taken today. Enough said. |

Ya know, you could just clear off the snow, and fire it up. BBQ is still BBQ. There may be advantages to cooking in freezing temperatures, the juices may carmelize differently in the meats in freezing temperatures, heck you could end up being the Alaskan Emeril! |
Mine would look like that, too, if I lived where it snowed during the winter. I don't do well in the cold at all. |
2 Attachment(s) Here is what I made for lunch today. Also made some cheddar biscuits and cherry cobbler. Yeah my momma taught me well HAHA Attachment 212756 Attachment 212757 |

"I was a lurker at first. I felt like the guy who stumbles into the lingerie section at Sears. If no one sees you, it's cool checking out all the girlie stuff." I can relate though my place of worship is Victoria's Secret. "She would look great in this, and this, and this..." Sssssssshhh. I'll vote for one break. The dude LIVES in freakin' Alaska!!! |

I have had this one for about a month and it is VERY solid. The cooking area is 1200 square inches! That's a lot of meat LOL The side box on it very good size. Mine came with a set of grills for the side box where you keep the fire and the ashes fall down below. I just clean it out before every time using it. I would not hesitate to buy another one again. The things about 80lbs. Not light at all. |
