What are some good snacks? That's my problem, I like to snack alot, but I try to find healthy-ish snacks. I just need some good ideas. I am not a veggie person unfortunately. I try, I really do. The only way I'll eat veggies is in soup, like Campell's or etc. I'm so weird. I'll eat a whole bowl of vegetable soup but won't eat veggies. What about the Special K diet? I love cereal. Best thing we did was buying a treadmill, exercise bike and home gym. Now we can work out any time, was a bit expensive at the moment but we don't have to pay fitness studio fees for the long range. I found it helpful to set a certain time a day when you will work out, like an appointment, otherwise I'd had a thousand excuses. I also love pilates and belly dance, that's great for working the abs. |
Wish I could help withe snack question but I am not much of a snacker. I am a grazer and will eat parts of my meals all day and usually stop around 6:00 pm. Water is the trick for me, I drink it all day long after my one cup of coffee per day. Giving up soda was so hard for me but I did it a few years ago and vowed after that struggle not to go back. If I do snack I have string cheese made with low fat milk, or the little dill pickles (love both). |
I am going to be honest I have a treadmil and I never use it!!! I like having the opportunity to have someone telling me what to do, like a home work out program. But I need to switch it up, and often so I stay committed. |
I have just rejoined the gym so I go 5 days a week and have weekends off Monday is Abs class Tuesday Centergy Wednesday Power Thursday spin Friday curcuit Every time I do warm up 15 mins on ecliptical or rower Walk/Run with my little George every day and now I have changed my diet too Fruit and Vege and loads of it and not too much carbs, protein of some sort with lunch in dinner + water water water. Anyway been at it for 2 weeks and have already lost weight, find it hard counting calories so I just make sure I have only healthy food options available but this last weekend I must admit I had a few drinks,(High calories but oh it was nice);) |
Tonight was my spin class, it was a speed class so I got a really good workout. |

Only ate breakfast: light yogurt and protein granola and Dinner: Salad with chicken breast and vinegrette Thinking I might want a snack and I want bread bread bread....but I think I will behave and have cheese and half an apple:rolleyes: |
 I love doing Turbo Jam, Tredmill and my station bike its the best for me go hard for 2 weeks off on weekends and Im sure to drop 2-3 lbs by the second sat. I love it I do about an 1hr 30 min each day. It goes by fast when you find a good workout that works for you... :p |
I went to the gym last nite but I think I'll give the rest of the week a miss at night because I didn't realise but its a free class week so it's really crowded, went into power class last nite and there really was no room left, packed in like sardines after class I thought i'd do a bit on the tredmill but they were all in use as well, don't think it's fair when I pay $50 a month:( Anyway that's my moan for today sorry |
My son is a certified personal trainer, but he trains the big body builder types for competitions out in Cali. He is in excellent shape and has done modeling for Pro Muscle for the last 2 years. He wrote my a diet for me when I ask him on my 50 th b-day and I lost 62 lbs in 5 months. I went from a size 16 to a 6 that was 3 years ago. I quit doing everything after losing my Holly dog when I became depressed and then my excuse was I got to busy with my pups. I gained back 20 lbs since May and started my diet again yesterday. You should see my puppies faces watching mom on the treadmill running for an hour. It felt good. I was taught not to count calorie but to watch the types of food I ate and to eat clean. Rule number one drink 8 bottles of water a day. The foods I ate were healthy lean meats, fish, egg whites, nuts, low fat cheeses, veggies (no white potatoes), some fruit, he limited the types to apples, pears, and berries, oatmeal every morning and sweet potatoes every other day and add olive oil and coconut oil into my meals daily and the hardest thing no breads. My work out routine was cardio 6 days a week every other day free weights. I'm very disappointed in myself for going back to my old ways so count me in. |

What seems like an oxymoron for me is my doctor said limit my salt to 1500 mg. or less a day, put me on a diuretic, and told me to drink a lot of water. A diuretic to get rid of excess water only to drink "a lot" more. LOL!! I understand, it just sounds funny. I always considered myself to eat fairly healthy but I found I was not eating too healthy at all. My biggest problem area was sodas. However, when I started keeping track of my salt intake, I started to realize how much salt is in our foods. It seems like such a small thing, but it's huge! In 4 weeks I have completely overhauled my diet. I significantly cut my sodas back to just one a day (and working to get rid of that one), eat lean meat, raw vegetables, and fruits. I was addicted to carbohydrates, and cut out white potatoes, white bread, sugar, and chips! However, the one thing I struggle to give up is chips and salsa! So, I made my own salt free salsa with all raw vegetables and froze it. In the organic section of our grocery store, I found some low salt all natural corn chips which have one third the amount of salt per serving, and their serving size was twice as much as a name brand bag of chips, so it completey satisfies my cravings with just one portion. So, in 4 weeks I have lost 6lbs. I am not significantly overweight, but I could lose 20-25 lbs to be on target. I am sure it is mostly water but I do feel a lot better eating this way. Next step however is to amp up the exercise and get moving. Last evening I took the dogs on a walk. Mylee is on restricted exercise, so I carried her. She was my "free" weight and boy did I feel it by the time I got home. LOL. |
If you drink a glass of cold water before a meal you will find that you eat less that is a fact. I just did cardio and free weights for an 1.15 minutes this morning. I'm down 2 lbs already. |
I did my Turbo Jam workout this morning I did the 20min and the 43min rested for like 15mins and jumped on the treadmill for 20min fast and slow combined. Thats a hard one but hey if you want it bad enough anything is possible... |
Yesterday was my weight training day, did legs, arms, shoulders, chest and abs. I am pretty sore today. Tonight is cardio. Remind me why I do this. |
About to start my Turbo Jam and Bike and Treadmill I should be done by, oh I dont know I'll be done when I'm done...hahahahaha |

I so need your menus...this is kinda like I have to eat but I eat the same stuff everyday... over and over...and I am bored PS working out in gym shortly then to drs. again...and my chest and abs are hurting as I did weights yesterday again...cardio today |
My oatmeal is one package of instant oatmeal, it equals a half a cup. I add a half cup of frozen blueberries onto the dry oatmeal add the water then I add the half teaspoon of cinnamon (Some studies have shown that just 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower LDL cholesterol.) and a package of splenda sweatnes. I cook it in the microwave for 2.30 sec. I stir it half way through, all microwave are different so keep checking. It is really hot so be careful when you take it out. The blueberries will have burst open and it is sweet and taste like a cobbler. I also do this with apple slices and frozen strawberries. The egg whites are scrambled and I use Pan spray, I sometimes add green pepper green onions and sprinkle a tiny bit of low fat cheddar on top when I'm done. I was on the diet a month short of 3 years so you learn to be inventive. I love fresh baby spinach so I make lots of different salad with it one of my favorite is to add fresh raspberries chopped pecans, a bit of red onion, you can add grilled chicken on it and I use fat free or spray on raspberry dressing. My key to not getting bored was to make my food spicy. |
Are any of yall on Sparkpeople.com its a good motivation web site |
Did 1 hour of strength training Sunday, 1 hour of Zumba tonight. I missed Tuesday's Zumba had to go furniture shopping with my dtr. My biggest problem is sugar and soda. It just seems impossible for me to give up coke and drink water. I will work on cutting back for now. |
