| Cell phone use in Europe? Ok, so we leave in one week and six days, but again who is counting. We have Iphones and my Dad was checking into options for us while in Europe. AT&T said we can buy text packages for $10 that include about 50 texts each. Also, we can send emails & use skype for free in wifi spots. They said best option if we want to call is to buy a pay as you go phone once we get over to Europe. Has anyone done this? Maybe it's easy, I've been trying to read and it sounds a little complicated to me and I'm wondering if it's worth it with the text, email & skype options? Thanks!

| What we have done when going to Europe is ....they sell calling cards in little convience stores ...they are much cheaper and can be used at any payphone. Have a wonderful trip.

Thanks! Are there payphones all over Europe? You don't see that many here anymore.

| When in Italy, we just made a few calls on the cell phones after setting them up thru AT&T for $5, it cut down on some other other charge. The key is not to die on the phone..Hello, how are you, we are fine, goodbye! |

No Longer a Member | I only use pay as you go phones here, just get a cheap phone and put 20 euro on there, it'll take you pretty far, I think I throw 25 euro per month on my phone and always have carry over...so I recommend pay as you go, you'll probably save money that way, it'll be easy to fall into using your phone just like you normally would without realizing it. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My sister is in England right now visiting relatives and she is calling me on her cell phone. I told her she better not be running up my cell phone bill. lol She did mention that the At & t phone she has can be used for international calling. Its not a pay as you go , but one of the features on her phone. The connection is fine. Have a great trip.

| When I travelled out of the country last year with AT&T (iPhone), I got the International plan and it wasn't much at all. I called my daughter at home (with the yorkie boyz) most every day. I cancelled the minute we got back to the states. It worked great and I did not have a big bill the next month.

| Best I can tell from the bill the international plan was $38.99 for one month. I only used it for one week and I had a credit of $21.66. But my total bill for the month we were out of the country was only $12.00 higher than usual. So, I'm not sure how that all worked out.

I know in wifi spots, we can skype & send emails for free. We are also buying text packages. I was just trying to figure out if there was an affordable phone option. Thanks!
