I was English by birth, but I am American by choice - I became a citizen February 18th 2000. Took me 27 years to become a citizen, years of my husband bugging me to apply for citizenship - but in 1999 I decided I was ready, so applied then.:)

Oooh yea I kno exactly what you mean! Well I re-use oil.....so when that happens I use fresh oil & it seems to do the trick. The chicken comes out crispy, crunchy & lighter. When you use the same oil too many times the oil "breaks down" or not as crisp & it'll soak in the chicken.

If that doesn't work.....ill have to ask my mom for more suggestions. She's like the Goddess of Fried chicken. Lol. I've never deep fried though always done it on a skillet. :-

Yeah, tried that.. put it on my headstone. soggy chicken. Deep frying works great. I just hate failing at something that every granny is supposed to be able to do. And I don't make chicken and dumplings.. I make chicken and doughballs.

Okay, agreed enough with the cooking channel.....:D
