| Not sure if anyone can help- but I thought here might be my best bet! I was hired back to teach full time in September- SUPER excited. However, every night for the past week or so I have been having teaching-related nightmares- you name it- whatever can go wrong- has been going wrong- mainly my students are out of control and I am getting no teaching done. Anyways- I am waking up feeling like I hardly slept- however, I am sleeping through the night. Does anyone know a way around this? I am guessing they are going to stop once school starts- but until then.... |

| First off congrats on the teaching job! How exciting! I am not sure how to make the dreams stop. I am sure you are very excited/nervous about it, and once you actually start teaching the dreams should stop. You are probably thinking about it a lot during the day, and that is probably why you are dreaming about it at night. What grade/subject are you teaching?

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Congratulations on the new job. Even though you may not feel stressed or nervous about your new job there is something in your brain which has these feelings and that is why they are coming out in your dreams. It is completley natural to have these feelings when starting out on something new and Im sure they will stop as soon as you start your new job, unfortunatley there is nothing you can really do to stop them before hand. Sometimes when I have been stressed in previous jobs I have started to have dreams that I am at work and I will act out my dreams! I once had a job in a smoothie bar and I HATED it, I would wake myself up 4-5 times a night acting out my dreams looking in my drawers for fruit for the smoothies LOL! Once I also worked in a large department store but was only on a temporary contract, I knew this contract was coming to an end soon and was stressed about finding a new job... I again woke myself up many times in the night folding my quilt up thinking it was an item of clothing that I was packing for a customer! LMAO. Now I am in a job that I love which is totally stress free, I have been here over a year and have NEVER had these dreams again. I think somewhere in your mind you are obviously stressed, anxious or worried about starting your new job, or this could even be excitement! either way it is coming out in your dreams... Maybe watching a film or reading a book before bed might help? I find if I do this before I go to sleep I usually dream about the film or book I have just read/watched. Dont worry it wont last forever

| Are you on any new medications? When i was prescribed a new medication I was taking one in the morning and one at night...well, it was giving me nightmares..i mean horrific nightmares! I woke up one night screaming that someone was in the house, cause i was dreaming someone was standing over me with a knife. Scared the bajeezus out of hubby. I had a feeling it was the med...so my doctor changed the times of when i took my medicine and havent had any nightmares since. Hope you start sleeping better.

I am hoping things start to subside shortly- I am totally ready for the first day, and really, not at all nervous. I could see if this was my first time teaching ever, but I was at the same school just last semester. Glad I am not the only one who has gone through this! | |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I'm not sure how to help this! But a friend of mine recently got a new job at a new school teaching AP English (she previously taught English 10 to sophomores) and she's been having nightmares recently too! I really hope that you feel better as soon as school starts. I am sure you're going to be a fabulous teacher!

| How about some exercise and then a warm drink before bed........ and then maybe some lavender air freshener or linen spray..... it helps relax you!!

| Congrats on your new teaching job! Being a retired teacher (after 27 years), I know exactly what you mean about the dreams and lack of sleep before school starts. Happened to me every year. I think it is just a stress thing. I imagine you will start sleeping better again soon. Good luck and enjoy!

| I never sleep more than 5 hours in any given night. Sometimes, however, I really need to recharge. That's what benadryl is for. I take one, conk out and feel great after.
