Well, I don't like Paypal very much. After using my credit card through my Paypal account for about a year and a half, I can no longer use my credit card with Paypal unless I verify my account by giving them my bank account info or opening a PayPal credit card since I've hit my sending limit, which I am very hesitant to do. I don't want them to have my checking account information and I certainly have no reason to want a PP credit card, and I don't understand their reasoning for this when I have spent lots of money and never had an issue with any sellers. Also, if I try to use that same credit card for a one-time payment with Paypal it won't let me since it is connected to my account. |
I actually prefer PayPal, as the merchant never sees my credit card info;) Also, they have a thing you can download and it will generate a disposable MasterCard (good only for the one purchase) for you. Then you can use PayPal to check out anywhere, even when they don't accept it:D |
I do not know what system you use for your accounting, I use quick books and they offer billing solutions. It allows me to email an invoice and the customer clicks on a link to pay. You can also get them to be set up as your shopping cart on your site. I have pay pal and have never had any problems. I also like the fact that you can get a buisiness pay pal debit card. This way you have your funds instantly, other wise it takes 2-3 days getting to your bank. But, I like have another option besides pay pal. |
I have had paypal for yrs, and they have gotten my money back for me a few times. And protected me from people wanting the merchandise and the money they paid back (mostly scammers on ebay). I use paypal only online! If a store doesn't have it, I shop elsewhere. |
Being new at selling I like taking paypal for the ease. I do not sell enough yet to open merchant accounts so PP works for me. I have not have any issues with them to date. As a buyer, I like the sites that take paypal so I don't have to get my credit card out every time. There are lots of times I surf the web and do not have my cc info handy. I don't have the info in my head so paypal makes so much more convenient to shop but then that is bad in it's own way--LOL. |
I would stay with Paypal and wouldn't worry about not offering other cc options. I think most anyone that buys dog clothing on-line does have a paypal account. I actually prefer using paypal to using my card, with some of the merchants I don't know how secure their sites really are. |
I use Paypal only for my computer repair biz and haven't had any problems with it, and you can set up your personal account as a business account without any extra fees, and this allows people to just type in their cc info and go on their marry way without signing up for a paypal account, but most people I've dealt with already have a paypal account. |
If I run across something online and they don't take PP, I look for it on a website that does. PP is that convenient. They take care of disputes and I don't have to give my CC to everyone. I, too have disputed CC issues and PP did not close my account. I've never had a problem with them. My daughter made the mistake of answering one of those stupid phishing emails from a fake PP email asking for info and her checking account got wiped out. Bank of America gave her all her money back. But none of that was PP's fault. I'm pretty sure that everyone with a PP account has at one time or another received one of those bad emails and just deletes them, or as I do, forwards them directly to PP's fraud division. |
I used paypal initially when I started my online store. I had several people contact me to complain and ask if there was another way to render payment. It happened enough that I got an authorize.net merchant account in addition to paypal. I like paypal but I always use my AMEX for freq flyer miles. :D |

Paypals is great but I wish I offered another method. I get calls all the time asking what paypals is and why they have to use that method. I explain its a merchant service and they don't need to have an account to pay and can bypass that step and pay directly with a credit card. |

Thanks everyone for all your help, I now have new concerns but also feel a little more confident that I could get by with just using paypal on the website if I need to which I think I will in the next few months just to cut expenses before baby #2 comes lol :) Thanks everyone |
