| Dropped my Blackberry in the Toilet...HELP! A public toilet no less. I took the battery out and put them both in a bowl and covered them with rice as soon as I got home. Can anyone tell me if this has worked for them and saved their phone. I am so sick about this. |

| OMG, I about did that once with my blackberry, I would let it dry out for a day before trying. I hope it works for you. Keep us updated, so I will know just in case I do the same.

| I take it you don't have insurance? That is just so gross! I'd never heard of the rice treatment. You will have to report back your findings. But I hope it works but eeewwwww!!!!

| I never heard of the rice trick but when I dropped mine in the pool I used a hair dryer to dry it and it worked fine after that

Donating YT 10K Club Member | My daughter dropped hers in our hot tub and we did the rice "trick". We left it there for 2 days...it works fine now.

| I don't know which would make me more sick...dropping the phone in a public (or any) toilet or reaching in after it! Sorry 'bout your phone... |

| The rice trick saved my SIL's phone after it went through the WASHING MACHINE!! Good Luck! P.S. There is also those techies that recommend rubbing alcohol to displace the water. Just research it before taking my advise

| I did the SAME thing to my BB... but thankfully it was my own toilet, LOL. It fell out of my pocket. I just let it dry out for a day and it did come back on and I was able to make/receive calls but everything else pretty much broke. I ended up getting an iPhone since my BB contract was almost up anyways!

I read a few things about the alcohol, however, I was afraid to try that. I just want my dry phone back. | ||

It should be ok - just give it a day or 2. I think mine took 2 full days.

| Whatever you do, DO NOT!!!!! push any of the buttons on the phone until it is 100% completely dry. The contacts will get ruined if they are pushed together while wet/damp. A phone repairman told me that one, though it wouldn't matter on my Iphone And yes, if a phone is already wet, particularly with dirty or salt water, it's okay to rinse it really quickly with fresh water before the drying process. It's actually preferred, as the dirty or salt water will leave crystals behind when it dries (salt or crud). good luck, I hope the rice trick works!!!! *fingers crossed* P.S. Insurance would've done you no good anyway, I don't know of any plans/carriers that cover water damage

| This happened to my mom today, but she dropped hers in the sink. My nephew came over and he put hers in rice. He said he has done it with his phone several times and it always worked. I am curious to see if it works for both of you He put hers in ziploc bag and sealed it.
