I haven't heard the tapes, yet. Not sure if I want to. How disappointing! The girls at work described some of it so I don't really know if I need to hear more. But really, we all put way to much faith in actors in this country. The people we hold up as hero's and role models when we don't even really know a thing about them. This is a case in point. 10 or 15 years ago, most women were crazy about Mel Gibson but obviously we didn't really know a thing about him and now that we do... who wants him? Maybe he was drunk and I should be sympathetic but sorry, I can't manage to muster up an ounce of sympathy.:thumbdown:thumbdown |

I have NEVER been as disappointed in ANYONE, as I am in Mel Gibson! The mouth on that "MAN" ...No wonder he's having problems in his personal life. Isn't he supposed to be such a religious-thinking person? I wouldn't let my baby daughter anywhere near a guy like that; one who has NO respect for women whatsoever, and it violent on top of it. He's really gone beyond the pale with this one. There's a part of me that says, "what an a**hole" and another part that pities him. I don't remember hearing any of this type stuff when he was with his wife and I think his personal life has just gone off the rails and he's lashing out. Not trying to make excuses for him....he'll have to pay the consequences of his actions. I just think he needs help and I see his crazy behavior as a cry for help. He shouldn't victimize those around him though, and only needs to look in the mirror to find who's to blame for his troubles. |
From what I understand his dad is a real prize as well. He is a holocaust denier-BIG TIME-- and only accepts Mass in Latin-NO Vatican II stuff for him and HIS family!!! But it was O.K. to move the family to Australia so his sons wouldn't be drafted to Viet Nam (elder Gibson and family are originally from the U.S.). So much stuff I think was instilled in Mel by his upbringing, but that is NO excuse for his horrible behavior as an adult. You'd think that he would have become more enlightened over the years. Another fun fact : Kenny Wayne Shepherd (young blues guitarist extraordinaire) is Mel's son-in-law. How 'bout THAT for a FIL?!:cool: |
The rant tapes have been on TV all day... can't get away from them. I'm shocked and sickened to think that any man could say such disgusting things to a woman especially when she is the mother of his child. He's a pig. He's not going to be able to squirm his way out of this one. |

We don't know what his daughters/children and ex wife delt with. He may have not been that bad with them or maybe he was and they were to afraid to say anything. It could have been a huge relief when he left for the younger woman. It was a very quiet uncontested divorce as I remember. Some people live the life the knew growing up, others choose a life they want to live. Alcohol is a terrible thing in the wrong hands, especially if it's someone who has issues and/or doesn't know when to stop. Some people do ok with beer but hard liquor is a big no no. Others even beer is to much and they become irrate and violent. All the suppressed emotions bubble up, and the people who love them or are to afraid to leave them take the abuse. |

This is sad. I have heard people talk like this and they were not themselves. Listening to the way he's yelling while the GF is calm is rather "telling". He's angry, frustrated and out of control and she's pushing his buttons. Not that what he's said is ok or that he's never said it - just that he is at the edge. I would be very careful if I were the GF - I'm sure he's very unpredictable at this point. If releasing the tapes was to put light on a matter that has gone unnoticed or undealt with - then she has accomplished that but to air this further may produce some dangerous reactions. I really think he needs to go in for some psychiatric help - now. The worst part is that there is a baby involved. |
I loved Mel... he was my favorite hottie for years and years. He was a cool, nice guy for a VERY long time. Then something snapped years ago for him. I think it happened during/after the taping of the Passion of Christ. I read that he has a church on his property and went to mass 7 days a week. Now I am not bashing that at all... but I do think some take religious beliefs to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL than they are meant. (hence all the holy wars between countries and nations). Anyways... just my 2 cents. He's rich, eccentric and apparently a very very sad screwed up man. :( His rants are disgusting I agree! |
I think this shows how celebrity can ruin people. They are treated like gods, and they don't have to learn how to deal with limits. It sounds so wonderful, but it stops and even reverses emotional maturation. Mel's rant is like a two-year-old, except a two-year-old doesn't know all those disgusting words. A grown man with the self control of a toddler is a sad, scary thing. |

He would say the most disgusting, cruel things imaginable - that she had no talent, that she was a whore - and then in the next breath say, but I'm willing to give you one more chance.
