I've never been one for the drama on here. I just don't get it. I come here for advice and to look at all the cuties!!!:p This site has saved my babies. Like last week when I posted that my baby Pebbles had a sore on her face. I thought was just a sore and it would heal. No... someone told me it could be an abcess tooth. Wow I didn't know that. Sure enough she was in surgery the next day to take care of it. Boy that could have gone real bad if I didn't ask here. I thought that was what this site was about... our love for yorkies. Boy if it weren't for this site. I wouldn't have my baby Wally :( I owe alot to you guys. Can't we all just play nice??? |

Tags are what is used for searches. So....someone who is doing it clearly does not get that. They put for me: ladyjane argumentative They are just being childish. Now, someone just might do a search for ladyjane, but will they actually search for argumentative? The person was just doing it for purposes other than what tags are used for. Personally, I don't care. I DO, however, find it offensive that they are putting people's user IDs along with their names and then using terms such as BYB, etc. After someone told me about the tags with my name last night, I looked around and saw that this is a habit someone has taken up. |

The point is that some people are using them to label people but don't even GET what tags really are. It is basically a waste of their time...guess it makes them feel good about themselves. I don't know. But, it really serves no earthly purpose. How many people are going to search for disneyrocks? . |
I had never noticed tags before at the bottom of a thread??? I associate tags with something irritating in the neck of my blouse:D |

I knew they were there, but never paid attention to them. Someone told me last night and I guess this is something some people may have been doing? Who knows. Always amazes me the things that people find to do. |

Okay, so if I needed to find threads about something specific I could search in the Tags?? is this how they are meant to be used? sorry, guess I am just confused. |
OMG! I just found a tag in one of the recently closed threads that said "knowitalls". I am amazed that sort of thing is allowed. |

I'm not sure how helpful they are anyway...I googled the word in the tags section and I get nothing to bring a person here....I used the "search" feature here and it says "sorry no matches" but when I go to "search" and the click the "tags" option then it brings be to that thread that contains the tag word..... |

That's terrible! That function should be disabled IMO. |

Here's an example. The tag says "backyard breeder". http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ml#post3176921 I have over 7,000 posts and never knew about tags until now. |
Tags can be really useful if you are looking for a thread, and for finding something in google. For people who are buying a dog from a breeder here, certain threads can be very beneficial. Just reading breeders nursery pictures and classified ads is often not enough to get a clear picture of the breeder's practices. However, other threads that describe, in a breeders own words, how she is caring for her dogs give the buyer a much better overall picture of the type of breeder this person is. Remember, not all tags are made by the same person; each member can place up to two tags. So just because you see a person's name with the words, backyard breeder, it doesn't mean that the same person has made both tags. |

These tags have been used by many for quite awhile and especially about byb's and puppy brokers. I don't think it should be disabled - it is a useful tool. I used it to bookmark a thread on facial peels. However, I agree that people should not be able to put usernames/names there -- just words. |

I first noticed tags a few months ago when all of the drama was going on over the rehoming of Disney. The thread was tagged as BYBer. But what I did notice is that the tagger needs to be able to spell. Back Yard Breeder, BYBer and Backyard breeder do not all come up as choices even though we all know all those combinations mean the same thing. |
Here is a thread with a lot of tags. Someone was really going to town over this one. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-illinois.html |

So if I do a YT search or a Google search, the tags will help me find a specific thread? |

Check out the link I just posted. This was the first time that I ever really noticed tags being used. Answering your question~yes if you search and someone has used your search word and attached it to a thread it will come up. If you so to the drop down SEARCH at the top of the page next to NEW POSTS you can search TAGS. Any post that has the word you are searching as a tag will come up. The only problem that I can see is that the spelling needs to be correct and the word needs to be used consistently for it to work really well. |

Check it out Jodi! Just for you!!! *look down* Can I remove tags if I want to? Did you notice I'm catching up to you in post count? I think it's official, I TALK TOO MUCH!!! |
I had never notice that before..... so is it one person tagging different threads? Admin should be able to track them or remove them. |

Tags should be used for informative purposes. "Disneyrocks" is okay too :p. It's just not a place for personal issues though (ie, issues between members). |
