Tags should be used for informative purposes. "Disneyrocks" is okay too :p. It's just not a place for personal issues though (ie, issues between members).
It would be a good thing if Mods and Admin could trace who placed the tags. That way inappropriate taggers could be reminded :D just what tags are to be used for.

The ability to do that should be forthcoming :).

In a nutshell, members should use tags for informative purposes, but not for retaliation or as a tool for dealing with personal issues with other members.

Someone just added "snooty" as a tag on this thread. That certainly can't be for informative purposes!

I still am not sure the usefulness of tags.:confused: Sure, we can all have a little fun with them and put words but how can they help me...really. I will call myslef S-L-O-W because I am not getting it?

I guess the only use I see for them is to associate words with certain threads/members when people do a Google search.

A few days ago there was a link with DvlshAngel985 asking what tags are (sorry, I don't know how to link to the old thread; it's called "What are tags?"). Here was my example:

If you posted a question about your puppy barking all the time at the door bell, you could use tags such as: puppy, barking, door bell.

That's exactly how tags are supposed to be used. They are traditionally used in internet marketing and blogs. Here's a list of YT's most commonly used tags. The tags used the most are larger in size. If you click on them, they will open up all the threads that have been tagged with that particular key word or phrase.

I remember a thread a few days ago. Have I missed all the conversation about tags? I have seen the bar at the bottom of the page, still not sure exactly what it is.

So are tags used in google searches or searches here on YT?
I have just always put the key word(s) I am looking for in a thread
in the search bar.

Tags can be used either in the forum or at times they appear in google. For example, if i create a thread on 'dog allergies', i may tag it 'dog allergies'. If you type 'dog allergies' into the search bar in YT, the thread will show up. It'll probably show up without the tags also though based on keywords in the content or the title of the thread (i'm not sure exactly how forum search works). If someone goes to google and types in 'dog allergies' it's quite possible that the thread I created with the tag 'dog allergies' will show up in the google search results. It's a marketing tool, however from what I've been reading in YT it's also a vindictive tool :rolleyes:

EDIT: LOL i just noticed the new tag about frito paws.

How do you tag a comment?

Thanks so much. I "think" I understand it.
As for it being a vindictive tool, we are good at turning things like that around here and making them fun.

To tag, I believe you click on edit and add there.

Breeders have been using tags for a long time so that their classified ad and nusery threads will show up in google. Some of their other threads are even more informative of what type of breeder they are. You can read their other posts and form your own opinion.

By the way, vendors can use tags on their selling threads as well, anything that helps people find Yorkietalk is a good thing.

Look at the picture and see where it says, "Right here", you should see the words, "Edit Tags" click on that.

on the right hand side of the bar that says Tags there is a link that says Edit Tags. If you click on that you can add a tag.
