I think that's what I'm going to do, too. I'll treat the entire yard first to get rid of the ants, but then I'll go back a little later and treat around the outside of the house to help keep all those nasty little buggers out!

How often do you have to re-apply the diatomaceous earth? Does rain wash it away?

Hopefully someone can answer your question as it never rained in Arizona..I did it once a year or if I saw the ants on a path into the house...

Ahhhh, that sounds wonderful! It's been raining heavily here off and on for several days. I shouldn't complain though, once July gets here it'll be weeks before we see any rain again.

Bonny, hope you are able to get them under control, right now I would love to send you about a dozen squirrels that are at our apricot tree, gosh all I have heard all morning is them calling the gang to pick our apricots, which are not ready to be picked UGHHHHHHHHHH. They strip us every year of our fruit trees. This year seem to be so many more. They aren't leaving any for me to pick or the cyote or bob cat that I have to chase off either.

Getting back to the ant problem, I use EQUAL= ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER,
just put it lightly about and they carry it back to their nest. It works for me.

I used to have lots of squirrels at my old house - they loved the big trees in the backyard. My Becca had a ball chasing them up those trees. I miss watching them playing, but I don't miss the rest.

Really? Equal will kill ants? That sounds easy, and much cheaper than the other stuff. Thanks!!

cinnamen is also a natural ant repellent. I used to use that in my kitchen.

Tucker used to love to chase the squirrels up the tree in our old back yard. I would open the door and he would shoot out like he was coming out of a cannon. It was hysterical.
