| Tornadoes in Central IL last night It was a little scary here last night with a lot of tornado warning so I am hoping all of our friends in IL are well. I know for sure that LOU is right around the area that got hit so I am hoping she will check in as well as anyone else south toward the Kankakee area. Here is a link to some of the damage Tornadoes hit central Illinois - Chicago Breaking News

| I had everything ready to head for shelter when I saw the tornadoes were heading right for us but, luckily for us, everything went north and south of us all night. I hope everyone in the path of the storms last night is o.k. today. |

| I'm so glad that you are both safe. I'm right on I80 and they seem to like to travel that line often and then right into Indiana.

I80 -- I have driven it so many times between Chicago and Des Moines during bad weather. Tornadoes and snow seem to follow that interstate.

| We are North of I-90, and no real problems, but the wind sure was blowing, and several massive downpours. The Dogs retreated upstairs with my wife to watch DR. OZ, and I stayed downstairs and watched "The Wolfman". Perfect, wind, noise, rain, .....who could ask for anything more. Not sure what is happening in Illinois these past few years. Now we get an annual 100 year storm, earthquakes, and tornado alley has moved from Kansas/Oklahoma to here. I think I will go back to AZ. |

| About 12 yrs ago one actually followed right alone I80 and actually touched down on the expressway and . It is a magnet they usually go more toward the south and then over the state line. There were no sirens here at about 9:30ish and of course the dogs wanted out but when I opened the door it was very quiet but Bogey and Pebbles just looked out. Doodlebug went out for a quick potty. All of a sudden it got super windy and hail he was back in the house in a flash.

I thought I moved to a relatively weather-safe area, but we have seen a lot of rough stuff here. Now I regret not having a basement, and living in a wood frame house. I miss the security of old-time double brick.

Our family lived in Park Ridge during the '80s and we never saw anything like what you are experiencing up there now. The Des Plaines River would flood every once in awhile, but the water didn't go very far.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I was watching it on one of the stations that was showing who, when and where the tornado was going. That has to be so scary for people in it's path.

| Actually, that tornado did head towards Kankakee. I heard the first warning for the Streator area...they got significant damage...then it headed towards Kinsman, Ransom, Odell and Dwight...then East towards Morris, Kankakee, Hersher and the towns in that area. We drove up to Dwight this morning and it appears their lumber yard is heavily damaged along with lots of broken trees and we could see metal from buildings (or mobile homes maybe) scattered all over town. There are police officers with road blocks set up on the south side of town so you can't drive through the damaged areas. Power companies are in Dwight and Odell...the Casey's in Dwight is using a generator for power. We also had tornadoes west and south of us last night but the good Lord allowed the storms to go around us...all we got was lots of lightening, a little wind but not much and some rain. And today...it's beautiful outside... |
