| Prison wives Right now i'm watching Prison Wives on ID. And for the life of me i don't get it. I work hard on not being judgmental of others lives, that said, i cannot believe some women would drag their kids once a month to the prison to visit their convict husbands. I know...walk a mile in my shoes and all but i do not understand this one. Does anyone else watch this show?

| Yes Becky, i am stalking you!!! Your name is Becky isn't it? Anyway, am i right? I just don't get it! What are these spouses on the outside getting from the situation? IMO Nothing but pain & heartbreak! I guess i'm just too suspicious of the inmates true motives! And the kids! I can see it now...Did you go to Disney World on summer break? No, i went to prison instead to visit my convict parent! What a HOOT for junior! I suppose i will never understand it. Maybe i can see if you were married to em before they went to prison, but not while they were already incarcerated! This one is a real head scratcher allright

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | my comment is I cannot BELIEVE they made a show about it - but then - with all the idiotic reality shows - I Do believe it. I happened to come across it on late night tv watched a tiny bit and that was enough for me it makes women look like total morons - who marries a lifer or man they never met or touched - don't they know that these guys are LOCKED UP with nothing else to do but con them ? I feel sorry for any woman that has such low self esteem they believe a prisoner is in love with them. They're being used and the show is promoting it. Makes you wonder what happens if the guy actually gets released - they're in for a rude awakening and to put children thru this is just sick. |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I haven't seen or heard of this show until now and I can't believe they made a show based on it either! What kinda ** is that? I once knew a girl who said she had a new bf and that he was in prison..i was like okay...(thinking how the heck did they meet and why was she excited to tell me)lol If anything that is something to be ashamed about. But anyway i will prob. just see one episode or something since i AM a reality tv junkie right now

| lots of people considered "prison wives" were married long before their husbands got arrested - sometimes for years. they simply decided not to divorce them. that's different than women who seek out inmates who they've never met IMO. |

| Yep that is what i say too,if it's only you...not a woman with kids! Maybe i'am mistaken but I don't think a kid should have to be exposed to Prison. They have no say so. If a person wants to ruin their lives by hooking up with a convict in prison who has nothing else to do but think of ways to play the system and lonely, sad women who just want what all of us want...Love and acceptance...but does not have a clue how to get it in normal ways(Not blaming them)These folks reap all the benefits(the con) and those they have convinced to go along with it who get nothing but pain, more lonliness and heartbreak. The problem i have is when these men or women have kids they are making bad, scary decisions for. They are dragged into it without a voice. Mom(or dad) is there to keep bad people away from their kids not for Saturday inmate visitation!

YT 500 Club Member | I saw an episode where one prison wife husband had cheated on here and he was involved with the mafia and when he was caught he was with his mistress and she decided to stick by him and also take the kids and now grand kids to see him. I guess I see things differently because I have uncles who are in prison and I really think that it is great for them to request to see their children even though they are locked up. In her case though I could not see myself sticking by someone who cheated on me and lied to me.

I can see if a man made a mistake and his own children or step children were making visits but marrying a man already in prison and then taking your kids????????????????????????????????????????? Serious self esteem issues there and subjecting your kids to............that enviroment. I was a prison nurse for 2 yrs. Last edited by luvdorkyyorkies; 04-29-2010 at 07:55 AM. | |
