| Breast cancer support advice needed! One of my closest friends was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She just had surgery and is finding out about treatment. What I would like to know from anyone that has been through this or knows someone that has been through this, how can I best help? I've offered to take her to any appointments, shop for her, help with her kids, etc... What did you find most helpful and supportive? I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

| I am so sorry, prayers are with you. I know it must be scary for you and her. Just be her sounding board we all need one in times of stress.

| This is such a difficult thing for all of you. I would say, just be there for her. Maybe do some house work or some of you could pitch in to pay for a house keeper to come in? There really is no way to make it better but it's easier when you have those around who care, just let her know you care and I know you already are doing that.... |

I've offered to watch her children, help take her to chemo appointments, etc.. I guess I just feel like I want to do as much as possible! It's hard feeling helpless. She's the kind of person that it's hard for to ask for help, so that's why I wondered if anyone who has gone through cancer could suggest what they felt helped them!

| My thoughts are with you and your friend. You may want to call the American Cancer society as well. They have very helpful info as well as wig avalibilty if hair loss will be an issue and they have this nice "spa" day that she can do. The women get free make up and stuff and it helps them to feel feminine due to the changes they go through with treatment.
