Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Random question...first decade of the 21st Century... What is it that we call this decade we are wrapping up? I know that from now on we'll have the teens, the twenties, the 30's (I think of the 20th century whenever those terms come around, so its kind of a funny thought that we will now be going through them ) but how is it that this one is referred to? Not one single person I've asked has had an answer. what do you think?

| My Grandma, who was born in 1901, would call it the 'oughts' if she were still here.

| I have NO idea! I asked my stepsister the other day about this. She's graduating HS in 2010 and I'm like... what are you gonna call yourselves, the class of "ten?" You know, it was always "class of Oh-Seven" or whatever. It just sounds funny. lol. I can't believe it's going to be 2010... it sounds so futuristic. But yeah, I don't know.

They'll probably go by the "class of twenty ten" - they're already calling my class "the class of twenty 11" it sounds weird. :P Thank you all for your input!!! 'oughts' seems like such an old term (because it is LOL) but it must be right, cause there's nothing else to call it! haha I don't even like calling it the "Turn of the Century" because that makes me think of the 1900s. I think we just need to get into the 30s of this century so all of this madness is behind us.

| I wonder what DJ's are going to call it. "Y106, playing all the hits from the 80's,90's and aughts!" does'nt sound right. I like the double ohs or the new millinieum decade.

| it is the aughts.....i heard a story on this on NPR. Oh, and technically, the first decade is not over until the END of 2010. The millenium did not start until 2001. Not that it really matters... |
