| ![]() Your husband doesn't have any respect for you or your health, or he would be doing his nasty smoking outside. You should really have a talk with him about this bad situation. Your life is at stake here.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I took care of my Mom as she was dying from the habit. You have my sympathy. She needed my help and it was the least I could do (for 21 months). I'll never regret not nagging her. I've never smoked but I've heard it is hard as heck to quit. I literally put a bowl vinegar in the bottom of my closet and a towel over the crack at the bottom to be able to wear my own clothes home. It worked. The smoke was miserable but the relationship with my Mom was priceless. She would have done it for me. |

| ![]() @Ladymom: Unfortunately, I am but a lowly college student with a part time job, and with everything that's going on, I don't even have the money for an apartment. It's something I've lived with since I was a small child, so any damage that could be done probably already has. I do feel bad for Gordon... But my first dog lived with me for 15 years, and the smoke never seemed to affect him. @Yorkiedaze: Haha, it's not my husband. It's my grandmother. I'd never date, let alone marry, a smoking man. ![]() @lrichardsonrnc: I think if anyone were to understand my situation, it'd definitely be you. I love my Grandmother dearly, and so I don't get onto her about her cigarettes. She's taken care of me all my life, and tried to quit 4 times already. She doesn't go to doctors, either. So, I don't gripe about it. I've just been quietly trying to find a way to lessen the effects it has on me.

You are right not to nag your grandmother. Sounds like she loves you very much and you her! Nagging does not help a person with an addiction. You could suggest something like Smokenders since she has tried to quit in the past. I am sure there might be a way for you to do it in a way that is not nagging. It is an incredible program that covers all of the issues in addiction to nicotine. The nice part about it is that you don't quit cold turkey and THEN learn about how to cope...I tried those programs and they did not work. There really is a withdrawal from nicotine and it is most unpleasant. With Smokenders there is no withdrawal...that is covered by tapering off. It is done in a controlled way. I really cannot say enough good things about it.

| ![]() Make him go outside. We both smoke but NEVER EVER in the house and NEVER EVER around Lilly. It is so gross and I'm not going to make her be around it and I also don't want my house smelling like an ashtray. Wish I could kick the habit.

If you know your dog can't get into the closet, I would recommend baking soda. If you can make the space I would recommend getting a cheap baking sheet (with sides!) and filling it with baking soda and sitting it on the floor. Baking soda is good at absorbing odors, and by giving it more air space it might catch a little more then it you just stuck a box in there. Charcoal like a couple other people mentioned works really well too. An air purifier in your room would do the best job (would catch all the smoke) but they aren't overly cheap. (If you go that route, I would recommend one with a cleanable filter - a couple brands make them but I know hunter does. Also avoid the ones that just "ionize" you really want something that has several different layers of filtering since it will catch more.)

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I have a great product you can try ....Many Hotels use it for their smoking rooms - It's called MAXIUM CAPRI -ORIGINAL Fresh Scents - You can order it online but you'll need a spray bottle I think. it smells a bit like lemons but takes out all oders in the home and last a long time - it's like Fabreeze only way stronger I like the smell of Fabreeze better but this is an industrial product - you only need 3 sprays around the house and viola ! My SIL uses it and gave some to me - it's really good - you can smell it 24 hours later in your house so go easy with it. |

I spent alot of money on fabreeze just because I love the smell - but this eliminates ALL household smells - it's pretty potent - so you have to spray lightly - a bottle should last a long long time,

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() First - Oooh this magic spray sounds amazing! There aren't any indoor smokers in my house (I'm allergic to it), but the cat box can get awfully stanky sometimes. and it's an old house so it doesn't always smell so "fresh" - I'd definitely like to learn about this spray!! Second - OMG HI V!!!! ![]()

Ok so far this is what I have - My sister in law managed to get a case wholesale - BUT the good thing is - We can get it retail from a wholesaler by the bottle - This is a QUART size bottle - good for Smoke - Pets - eliminates litter box smells and also - it's a product many companies use for people who had fires in their homes / businesses & they sell wholesale to many big hotel chains. ONE bottle should last 6 months or longer. I'm trying to get a set retail price with the shipping and should have it by tomorrow - I know the price will be UNDER 25 per bottle - I think it's going to be about 22$ which is a huge deal because it will last so long. I have a bottle (a gift) and it's the best I've ever used for room freshening. 3 sprays in my apartment is all I need. It IS awesome. I did need to get my own spray bottle but you could use a fabreeze bottle or any kind of sprayer - those are super cheap to buy. and Hi Chach !!!
