I have sanitizer in both bathrooms and the kitchen counter, I wont be getting the shots for the same reason as you. I also make sure i take off my clothes when i come home from a outing, wash them and shower. |
I have never had a flu shot and I don't intend to start now. I think we are being fed a lot of misinformation, this helps explain what is really going on: Obama Declares Swine Flu Emergency |

My two cents I work around 1400 residential persons and we have a high turnover rate. In fifteen years I have gotten the flu once. I get the flu shots every year and this has seemed to prevent future occurances. I guess you would say I am in the high risk catagory. I also took tamiflu and it reduced my flu symptoms a great deal. Nothing like feeling you have just been hit by a semi... They say if you have the real deal nasty flu you can recall the day and time you felt ill. This is true for me, I remember it like it was yesterday. I understand the concerns everyone has, as I have the same fears, for me I think the benefits outweigh the risks. I have taken the regular flu shot and waiting for the swine flu to be available in my area. I think this week. I missed out on the previous availability. (plus I am having surgery the end of Nov, and would prefer to have some immunity) Heres to a flu-free season!:p |
Absolutely NOT! I don't like the idea of injecting my body with any potentially harmful substance. And I refuse to be a guinea pig for the money hungry pharmaceutical companies. :thumbup:I agree with Archie's statement 100 % ! |
Well, at 1st I wasn't going to get it but after losing a friend who was 31 to this, having an uncle very close to death because of this and seeing numerous patients of mine DIE because of this.... I changed my mind and got one and my hubby got his. I have seen healthy young people (20's-40's mostly) get so sick and either die or become so close its scary. I work in the ICU and have seen this go from shortness of breath to ARDS to multi-organ failure and then death in a matter of days to weeks in otherwise HEALTHY people. It scares me to see that you guys are not even given the real truth in what I see with my own eyes. The govt and even medical DRs do not know what to do! This is just the iceberg people, its going to get much worse. But please, don't take my word for it...read and research and do what is best for you, whether its taking the shot or not or doing whatever..... |
I will be getting it and so will my family. |
I am still undecided, I have about a week and a half to make up my mind. |
I didn't know if I should get it either, I was back and forth, back and forth on it. But I decided to get it. I got mine yesterday, doing fine. My arm was a little sore, but that was it. My whole family decided to get it. We all said we weren't going to, but many discussions later, we decided to. |
H1N1 vaccination shortage I asked my daughter her opinion once again on the vaccine for clarification and my peace of mind. She is currently entering her seventh year of medical school, entering clinical rotations. She has been persistent with us in asking whether we have gotten the vaccination or not. She told us simply there is no debate, you are to please get the vaccination. (she NEVER takes an asprin or any medication, its like pulling teeth when shes sick) She had the H1N1 virus in June of this year. We will be getting it when available. We have gotten the seasonal flu shot but not the H1N1, unfortunately not enough in our area right now. My husband is at the top of the list in our area. I imagine in the past most felt apprehensive about the penicillin shot as well as polio ect. I am sure they felt they were very new and un-tested then as well. But I feel personally the benefits currently outweigh the risks. A very personal decision for all. God bless everyone and take care of you! Heres hoping we have enough vaccine soon for all of us that choose to get vaccinated. I feel blessed to live in America, and have the option of vaccination. |

No, I don't get the regular flu vaccine either. I really don't believe in vaccines like that, especially the h1n1...it has not been around and I know that there has definitely not been enough testing on it. Stay safe and healthy, wash your hands, use hand sanitizer, and take your vitamins. |
swine flu I won't be getting it and either will my kids. There was a rush to make it available. It hasn;t been tested as well as other vaccines. The swine flu is mutating quickly. Chances are that the vaccine might have no effect because the strain you run into won;'t be the same on the virus was based on. I don't even get the flu shots for my kids. The on year we all got it, we ended up being incredibly sick shotly after. I know they are currently recommending it for pregnatn moms but i would be scared to get it if i were pregant right now with all the risks :( |
I've never been sick even with the flu (since before I started school and got chicken pox, measels, whopping cough, and mumps) and have never had a flu shot. My husband would get the flu shot each year and come down with it, so last year he decided not to get it and never got sick. It seems to work well with others, so maybe there are different types of vaccines? After I read where our government had quite a bit of the flu vaccine ready to expire, they yelled swine flu so that they could "sell" the vaccine instead of throwing it away. I don't know what to think anymore, but I'm just happy to be healthy, and take any kind of vitamin, herbs and natural foods to keep me that way. ;) |
Thoroughly agree! Quote:
In all it passed like wild fire thru myself (52), my son in law (30) & each of my grandchildren (13. 11, 9 & 20 mths) within the 8 days we were visiting. Speaking from experiencing this crap...I'd say the shot would be the least of my concerns vs. the actual flu! It's been nearly a month later...and I'm still coughing...it's just not anything to mess around with. There are medical professionals all around us and they're all saying  to the H1N1 vaccine...so, if I hadn't already been sick...I'd be racing to get the vaccine!;) |
