I have decided not to get it. I was going back and forth. But truthfully I don't ever remember getting a flu shot. I don't buy the first generation of electronics...why would I put something that is first generation into my body. The vaccine is not a live virus...therefore you can not get the flu from it. The nasal spray is a live virus and there is a possibility.
My sister is pregnant also, and refuses to get it because she feels the same way. I just keep thinking about medications back in the day that they said would not harm the fetus...some of the babies were born with disabilities and abnormalities such as black teeth. I guess weigh the options and talk to your doctor is all you can do.

My doctor was basically pushing both flu shots on me saying I could die and it's especially dangerous for those pregnant. There is no guarantee that I won't get either flu with the shots and no guarantee that the shot is safe. The CDC will monitor as they go. Last time they tried making a swine flu vaccine in 1979 I think it was 40,000 people died from the VACCINE...yikes!!! I told my doctor I'd take my chances.

Still very undecided... For awhile the H1N1 didn't seem to affect people too badly.... Now I'm beginning to hear of some pretty severe cases. hummmm...

I'm exempt!! Getting older does have its perks.:) According to the news here, if you were born before 1958:eek:, your changes of getting it is slim.

No. I will not be getting any vaccines. They are dangerous. I can't believe they are pushing these on our children.

awww...... Thank you......It just sickens me the way the drug companies have targeted the children to make profits off of with so many of their dangerous, garbage drugs..........They know if they can insight fear, people will line up, no questions asked......I was stunned when I read about the hepatitis B vaccine they're giving to newborns. That vaccine was always reserved for drug abusers and prostitutes and now it's injected into babies at less than 24 hours old......So, so sad......

This is the latest lie from the CDC....CBS did a three month investigation on this so called "epidemic" :rolleyes:, it turns out many of the cases the CDC claims were the swine flu actually were not.....Just like the other lie of 36,000 people dying from the flu each year... not true either.....

I had one flu shot in my entire life and had the flu twice that year...I was sick, sick, sick! My son had the same thing happen that year. They said it was probably a different strain...whatEVER.

After that....no shots for him or for me.

He is older now and still remembers it and will not get a flu shot nor let his son have one!

I will take my chances....and if I get the typical flu symptoms, will call my doctor immediately for Tamiflu.

I will not be getting the flu shot. I have an auto immune disease, guillian barre, that is triggered by flu antibodies.

I just have to take my chance. but I am a hand washing fanatic and have not had the flu in years. Those sanitizing wipes at the grocery store are wonderful.

I just thought I'd mention......Tamiflu has it's own problems, it is far from safe......I wouldn't want someone to get more ill from the "cure".....This is a paragraph taken from an article.......

..."Tamiflu is NOT a safe drug. Serious side effects include convulsions, delirium or delusions, and 14 deaths in children and teens as a result of neuropsychiatric problems and brain infections. Japan actually banned Tamiflu for children in 2007.

Remember, Tamiflu went through some rough times not too long ago, as the dangers of this drug came to light when, in 2007, the FDA finally began investigating some 1,800 adverse event reports related to the drug.

Additionally common side effects of Tamiflu include:

* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Diarrhea
* Headache
* Dizziness
* Fatigue
* Cough

All in all, the very symptoms you're trying to avoid.

Additionally, Tamiflu has been reported to be ineffective against seasonal flu outbreaks, and may not be sufficient to combat an epidemic or pandemic.

But making matters worse, some patients with influenza are at HIGHER risk for secondary bacterial infections when on Tamiflu. And secondary bacterial infections, as I mentioned earlier, was likely the REAL cause of the mass fatalities during the 1918 pandemic!

But here’s the real kicker.

When Tamiflu is used as directed (twice daily for 5 days) it can ONLY reduce the duration of your influenza symptoms by 1 to 1 ½ days, according to the official data.

Why on earth would anyone want to take a drug that has a chance of killing you, was banned in Japan, is loaded with side effects that mimic the flu itself, costs over $100, and AT BEST can only provide 36 hours of SYMPTOM relief. Just doesn't make any sense.

It is a well known fact that all the antivirals do is reduce symptoms, but that makes them effective and worthwhile imo. I have taken them before and have known many others who did without any ill effects.

To each his own...I will take it if I get the flu. Thanks for your advice, but if people did not take meds due to possible side effects, they would die from what they needed the meds for!

Nope! Not getting it. The last time I let a doctor talk me into any form of a flu shot some 10-12 years ago, I ended up with a terrible case of the flu. And, was sick on and off throughout that entire year. The doctor tried to tell me that it was a different stand of flu and the the shots do not cause the flu. However, having not had the shot since, I can happily say that I have not had the flu. With this new H1N1 vaccine, I feel no differently. Besides, they are no long term studies on having received verses not. And, IMO are making the vaccine WAY too fast!!!

My post was directly related to Tamiflu, I don't believe any other antiviral was associated with this problem.....I'm sorry if that is what it looked like......Just trying to be helpful as to avoid any bad reactions......I wish someone had done the same for me when my father was ill......

I will agree that every drug has it's good and bad but having said that today many drugs that come out on the market are just not safe.....106, 000 people die every year, not from prescription abuse, but from taking the drugs correctly. This figure is more than likely much high than this because of gross under reporting.....In just the past ten years a dozen drugs have been removed from the market....

.....these drugs caused many deaths and serious injuries. I'm sure many of the people taking them thought of them as safe drugs.....If you where to look up "pharmaceuticals and FDA connection" you would be shocked at the process of drug approval, how clinical trials are done, fudged statistics, employees from the FDA having financial ties to drug companies, and how drugs are not pulled from the market when problems start to occur.....

For me looking into this subject has been quite surprising and also very, frightening and disturbing......The more I kept reading that old saying kept coming to my mind..... " Don't believe everything you think." ...and I certainly don't anymore.....
