| Jessica - let's clarify a bit. If someone has a can of Sprite in front of you and a can of iced tea, and they say " Jessica, which one do you want?" you'd say "the tonic" if you wanted the can of Sprite instead of the can of iced tea?

Exactly right. If I go to another state and order a tonic people look at me like I have 3 heads!!! But around here - that's just what you say. Mom, can I have some tonic? Etc...

Ask him if he's ever heard someone say tonic. We also call jeans "dungerees".

| Wow! If someone asked me for tonic , I'd be thinking that kind of water that you mix with gin.

| I call it POP. You'll find that the majority of the people who call it Pop are from Canada (not all but most) and all the one's that call it Soda are from the US. I'm from Toronto and I don't know anyone who say's Soda except for my American cousins. |

| Pop here now when I went south, way south texas- someone asked me if I wanted a "soda" I must have looked at them like they had three eyes... lol- had no idea what that was. then in germany, living there- they called it "coke or cola" well when they asked me if I wanted a coke, I said "no thank you, but I would love a pepsi".. they all laughed and I thought maybe I had three eyes. So is it.... TomatO or TomatA? PotatO or PotatA? Carmel or KarAmel? |
