| Vizsla.... Does anyone here have one? I saw them on tv and I think they're beautiful. We're thinking of getting a dog for our backyard. So far we're thinking a Golden. But after seeing the Vizsla maybe we'll change our mind Just want to know if they're hyper because program on tv said they need alot of excercise. I leave in a house with big fenced backyard and we go to the park with dogs alot. Are they good with small dogs? Thanks.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | they are beautiful dogs but they are INSANE LOL they have tons and tons of energy that needs to have an outlet otherwise they'll get themselves into trouble. i don't think they'd be a good outside dog, neither would a golden. goldens love people so much and would want to be inside with them.

| Vizla's are so gorgeous. If I were to get a larger dog that would be my pick too. I have heard that are high energy. If you are active with your dogs you should be fine. Post pic if you get one!! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the truely have a lot of energy but if you can harness that energy and make sure they are exercised a few times a day they should be alright. I have met a few really skiddish ones who were nippy. i'm not sure if that runs in some lines so if you choose to get one make sure you find a good breeder.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh and the vizsla does not have an undercoat so they are susceptible to the cold. You'll need a coat for your big dog just like your yorkies. LOL they also have very little "dog" smell for some reason

| I have heard they are very high-strung! I think they are beautiful dogs though. I think, with very few exceptions (working dogs on a farm maybe...), that any breed should be an "outside dog."

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Our neighbors had one and it kept getting out and one time ran across the road and came after my pom. I think they require a lot of training.

| I've e-mailed a few breeders today and on their websites they do say that they require training and exercise. I'm consistent with training I just want to make sure I can give them the exercise that they need.

| Go with a Golden! They are an INCREDIBLE breed. I love them sooo much. My next dog will most likely be a Golden.

| My girlfriend has a vizla that she rescued. He is a joy. I always bring him a toy or a rope or something when I go oner there. Now he looks for it, and if I don't have one for him he picks up one of his and bring it to me to show me. I love him. His name is Bobby. She lives in a small apt over her mom's house and she has a big yard. He just loves to run, run, run. He does calm down in the house he just wants to be petted that's all. Like any other dog you have to train him with simple commands. He listens. Good luck in your search whichever you choose.
