| ![]() I'm a soon to be single girl with my furbaby and, I need an affordable apartment. I live in northen NJ and rent is so expensive! Any ideas on how to find? I've been looking in craiglist, rent.com hotpads. Also, some places say No pets! I can't live without my baby so any ideas on how to be a little persuasive with the landlords? Thank you

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() I suggest that you invite your pontential landlords to your current home, so they can see the condition that you've kept it in. Invite them to meet Sasha and explain that she is just a small dog (sometimes the size makes all the difference!). Best of luck to you! Try contacting a local real-estate agency. They usually have mass-email set up so that they can send you any listings that meet your needs.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Hey there - not sure how much help this will be but when my husband died 2 years ago ![]() I used an apartment locator and also, personal contacts. I went around looking during the day and evening at potential places that had what I was looking for. It HAD to be in my price range with a patio and on the ground floor and close to my work. I got lucky and found one thru a friend. The one thing I did that was a big help was look at apartment reviews from tenants. IF you find a place you think would be a good fit - type the name and location with the word REVIEW after your search and you can read what former and current tennants say about the conditions. Good luck. |

| ![]() I'm not sure what area you are looking in, but I was recently looking in the Morris County area and was running into the same problem with pets. I can give you some advice that I have learned through my search. Apartmentratings.com was my best friend...it gave a good idea of what the apartment complex was like so I knew if I should even go out to see it or not. I hired a realtor, but she wanted 2 months rent in commission and I just couldn't afford that. So I turned to Craig's List and found a lot of good apartments and town homes on it. I actually took Bella Joi with me, along with a friend as well (for safety). EVEN if the ad stated no pets. I would just carry her along and I never had anyone say, "oh you can't live here with her". I actually got lucky and many said, "You aren't really suppose to have pets but since she is so well behaved I will allow it." Some good sites; apartments.com rent.com craigslist.com realtor.com Good Luck!! |
