what does everyone think about this maltese hi everyone do you think this dog is pretty i been wanting to get her Her name is gigi she is at the bottom of the puppie page at www.malteseuluv.com ,im planing on going to pick her up |
IMO she is NOT a reputable breeder. Here is a reputable breeder. She has a beautiful male for 1500. Be very careful who you buy from. Good Luck :) Ta-Jon Maltese Puppies Available |
I want a female she is one of the only few in illinois |

Please as I said be very careful who you buy from, does she do health testing? In my opinion I would not buy from her, it's up to you, but for me I would not. |
Please read this page form Foxstone Maltese. How to Look For & Find A Reputably Bred Maltese Puppy In The United States |
Here are some reputable breeders.. Rhapsody Puppies Maltese,Maltese Puppy, Maltese Puppies, Chrisman Maltese,Maltese Breeders, Teacup Maltese, NY Teacup Maltese Breeder Puppies Puppy Dog HOME There is more if you want them :D |
well how is she a byb if she has been doing it for 20 years she has more than a few dogs. and i am going to her house to make sure that this is not a puppy mill. idk and im not looking for a show dog, and to say she is not a Reputable Breeder well why you think that. I read the thing but still not convinced she is bad. every breeder has their flaws. i never seen a perfect dog and even the best breeder hasn't made a perfect dog. Idk puppy mills and byb i understand and know how to spot them but A reputable breeder idk i know some breeders that show their dogs and breed them and make you get a spay and neuter contract but i honestly want all its parts especially if im going to pay that much for a dog. The thing is to better the breed right well who says she is not trying no breed is perfect. everyone started somewhere idk where im going with this im tired.but i don't know if their is one perfect breeder out their. their are no perfect dogs so i dont see it. you can try to enlighten me if you want. |

Good Luck  |
i will ask if she has done all that testing of course i have the list of stuff they test the bitches and males for i was going to bring to her. but if she has been doing this for 20 years in Illinois a hour away from big old Chicago then i think i would have found something somewhere telling me she is not that good of a breeder. |
i never get a response when i get into it like that. oh well:confused: |
Well, I am not sure about reputable breeders, I have never bought from a breeder, but I do think she is absolutely beautiful! Good luck if you get her! |

I was trying to help that is all. Take it , leave it , your choice! Have A Great Day |
My sister has 2 Maltese very cute :) Good luck love to see a photo when you get her. |
gosh why so mad... only asking a question you said she was a bad breeder very strongly i wanted to know why just never mind... thanks everyone i will be careful she lives a hour away so if anything does happen i will be right on her door step. i will post pictures of her when and if i do get her.:) |

Just be informed that is all I am saying. I don't like to get into discussions, debates or anything else about breeders. I am NOT saying the woman you are going with is not a caring person or loves her babies, but for me I would not go with her. Again, your choice. :D |
what makes a good breeder?http://www.dogchannel.com/dog-breede...d-breeder.aspx |
I would say go there and see what you think. The one thing I like about this breeder is she is not trying to breed for the tiny ones that sell for more and could be less healthy. I agree with Bianca that you do have to be careful but I know for a fact you don't have to pay $2000-$3500 for a nice puppy. You are right, you are looking for a pet and not a show dog and no one looking for a show dog would pay that either. They would wait until they found one a bit older that a breeder would pretty much guarantee show quality. ( pups go through too many changes) You will know if she is for you or not but remember all the red flags and a website can surely make things look wonderful. Good Luck and let us know what you decide. Joan |
I like that article |
I just looked at that male for $1500. That is a beauty. Ch. sire and dam and only $75 to neuter. I know you want a female but males are great unless he is already lifting his leg. Don't know how old he is. |
i found some stuff on her here is the link...Maltese discussion forum home > Anyone know this breeder? still not sure i think im going to go check it out for myself ill let everyone know |
Ok, that thread on the link you posted was LOOOONG lol but I read through the whole thing. When you go, please make sure you check the puppy's living conditions. When I looked at the website her puppy cottage threw up a red flag for me. Also, the fact that she is advertising teacup pups bothered me as well (I don't hold that against her because some good breeders might just be uninformed and think that small means teacup). I know you will make the right decision. The pups are cute and appear to be well taken care of, you never know till you see for yourself. Good luck!!! :animal-pa |

If she have only 6 little dogs...what on hell are they doing in a kennel instead of in her home!? :thumbdown To me, look like she have more dogs or doesn't care about the one she have. I am a breeder and I also have 6 dogs right now. I use the family room as a dog bedroom so the dogs have their own place to sleep at night and to hangout when I am not home. I work mostly from home so the dogs are usually with me all day free to go in the house and have access to my small backyard. When the females have puppies, the whelping box is in the living room . So really with one or two "dog's room" set up in your house and a backyard you can EASILY accommodate 6 small dogs....Why this kennel? Look REALLY fishy to me... Just my opinion... |

I would certainly use caution............if you feel better to go and see first hand; do it! But I agree with Bianca.........there are a lot of good breeders to select from that have no "red flags." |
I didn't see where she advertised tea cup but I rushed through it very quickly. I do think a small breed like Maltese and Yorkie should be in their home but I would bet she has more than one breed unless I missed something else. This maltese could be in the OP price range and it never hurts to look if you are the kind of person that can leave even after you have held her and know it's the wrong thing. |

Also it sounds she may want breeding rights and this breeder may be willing ??? Not sure if she wants to breed or pet? |
Gigi is the two year old, right? She is beautiful. I hope it all works out for you. :) |

Thanks I just rushed down to the bottom of the page. I did read where she said, she breeds for the (4-5 1/2) but once in awhile gets smaller. Of course that is a way to get around it. I still think that $1500 male is super unless she wants to breed and that would be limited reg. I'm sure. |
There are three breeders in Illinois recommended by the American Maltese Association. They will be able to refer you to other reputable breeders. http://www.americanmaltese.org/2009_...eders_List.pdf The Maltese shown on that website are not good representations of the breed. Reputable breeders breed to the Maltese standard. Maltese should be raised in the house around people, not out in kennels. You want to get a Maltese from a reputable breeder, not a backyard breeder. Here's how to tell the difference: Backyard Breeder vs. Reputable Breeder |
