| My neighbor died. Yesterday we were expecting my next door neighbors and another couple for a BBQ at 5pm. At 4pm an ambulance and fire truck pulled up next door. The Man had a heart attck and died. He was only 50. He has a 35yr old wife and 2 year old twins. What is going on? So many people dying at age 50. That is so young. We are just in shock and sick about his passing.

| Oh, how awful. I'm so sorry to hear this. His poor wife and children!! I take it he had never been diagnosed with any heart problems?

| Last year he was put on high blood pressure meds, but no symptoms of heart disease. He felt sick and started sweating really bad. My husband had a friend who also got really sweaty when he was having a heart attack. I had never heard that symptom before, but I am going to keep it in mind.

| A doctor friend of mine told me once that when a 50-ish man starts feeling really bad, you should first suspect a heart attack. There aren't a lot of other things that suddenly strike a man of that age. The symptoms of a heart attack are highly variable. So don't expect complaints of the classic "elephant sitting on my chest" sensation. My husband had a heart attack 2 years ago. He sat up in bed at 11 at night. He said "I feel lousy". WHen I pressed him for more details, he told me his shoulder hurt. I got him to the hospital (which is near our house) in about 45 seconds. I knew he was having a heart attack, and I told the nurse to get him hooked up right away. He was indeed having a heart attack, and the doctors watched the whole thing on the monitor. They kept Gerry comfortable with drugs, so he was actually able to talk and joke through the whole experience. It was bizarre. Take my advice: 50-year old men don't complain about a cold or flu. When they start complaining about feeling bad, it is probably serious. |

| What a terrible tragedy. Those poor children and wife. What a shock that must have been for the family. More and more you hear of young people just dropping. My GF son, 36 was having pains in his arm and his wife rushed him to the hospital. The ER told them to take a seat when the wife was screaming for help, her husband was having a heart attack. The nurse said he was too young, take a seat. By the time he got into the ER he died, of a heart attack! Very, very sad. I knew him from the day he was born. Between high BB/stress and cholestrol you have every right to worry. We all need to take better care of ourselves. I feel so sorry for that family. Little children with no father. Very sad. |
