| How can a bug do so much damage? Something bit me a couple days ago. I woke up Weds morning with a large red welt on my left shoulder about the size of your fist. Over the last two days I started getting chills and went to the doc yesterday morning. By then it grew in size going from my shoulder to under my shoulder blade, under my armpit and up my neck. It was bright red, stiff and hurt like heck! He took one look and said WOW! Well that's a relief, I thought. He said if it started coming to a head to call him immediately as a surgeon would have to open it to drain. He didn't want it to break on it's own. There is no head so I guess that's goodAlso if I get a temp of 101 or over call him immediately as he would put me in the hosp and hook me up to IV. Wonderful! I have been getting chills also and feel warm but didn't take my temp. I am pretty sure it did not get that high. Of course blood work on Mon morn and again in three weeks. May be LYMES! So I'm on antibiotics 4x a day and pain killers. It really hurts. Buddy and I crawled back into bed when I got home from the doc and slept for another 3hrs. I was so tired having babysat Fri night and getting home at 2 and getting up at 7 to get to the doc at 9. It's been a stinky week for Bud and I. He has recouped from his leg injury, still on meds and now me. He tested negative for Lymes so I have hope it was not a tick from him that bit me. I check him daily and have found nothing. How can a little bug do so much damage? Keep your finger's crossed for me that it's not Lymes. |

| Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I had a bad reaction like that to a spider bite. Maybe it was a spider. Either way I hope you feel better soon. The antibiotics should help.

Spider was my first thought. The doctor has no idea what bit me. Can a spider carry Lymes as well?

| Oh, Carol, I am sorry! I will certainly keep you in my prayers. Do keep an eye on your temp, sometimes it's higher than we think. God bless you.

| Oh no! Those bites can do A LOT of damage! A relative of mine was diagnosed with MS and had to be in a wheel chair for 2 years until they found out it was Lyme from a tick bite! I myself had a tick bite too and got a weird rash all up and down my left leg. Hmmmmm... thinking of that, maybe that's what's causing my FM symptoms... gotta have that checked... Anyway, I hope it's just an allergic reaction to something harmless and you feel much better soon! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I'm sorry it's been such a rough week for you and Buddy. And, hoping you don't have Lyme's! I'm wondering too if it's not a spider bite. You would think if a tick bit you, it would still be attached. Either way it's not good, is it?

You just made me feel so much better. I never thought of that, still being attached. I did check the bed completley and nothing. I could have been walking Bud or watering the plants on the deck. I have no idea but whatever bug it was you would have thought I would have felt it biting me with what it did to me. No sence no feeling, maye. LOL Thanks everyone for keeping your finger's crossed for me.

| When I read about the bite a few days ago I was hoping it would not develop into something serious. I hope you start feeling better soon. |

| Oh no Carol, I'm sorry to hear that. I too think it could be a spider bite. I hope it's not Lyme disease. Keeping my fingers crossed for you too. I hope you start feeling better real soon, Carol.

| Wow that sounds really painful. i am always getting bit for some reason. Once I got bit on the ankle and I couldn't walk for a week! It swelled up so much I didn't even have an ankle anymore! Please make sure you check your temp! If you are getting chills that could be a fever, whenever I get chills I always know I have a fever coming on.
