Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Fall 2010 Wedding Planning.... What do you think is a reasonable budget for a wedding for 100-110 people? She wants to have the wedding and reception at the same place. Due to unstable weather that time of year it has to be indoors to be safe.

| Well, it depends on what she wants! I had a wedding for 35 people and it was about 5 grand. If you give more details, I may be able to help! |

| It all depends on the prices in your area, and the type of wedding you are wanting. I am getting married November 7th and I'm going to end up spending about $6000 overall for about 450 people. I am in western Kansas where prices are pretty low in general and we are doing quite a bit on our own. If you want more specific information or have any questions, feel free to ask!

Oh, I also wanted to mention that $6,000 in Olathe probably won't buy the same things as what I'm getting for my money. My wedding is actually in Rush Center, KS where I grew up. Prices there are much lower than what they are here in Manhattan which will be similar to Olathe. My reception hall in Rush Center is costing me $285. I know the cheapest place here in Manhattan is nearly $800.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | That was a consideration but she wants to wear a wedding dress and the JP isn't quite the place to do that.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | We have a 5 grand budget to work with and it's just so hard to find anything for that. We've even cut out the church to have the wedding and reception at the same place. We have been to several places and the prices are all the same give or take. We thought of having the reception at the VFW but all the ones in our area are to small. We thought of outdoors but the weather here is to unprecictable in the fall. She wants something nice but simple. So far we can't put a deposit on a place for less than 7 to 800.00.

| Prices are ridiculous, huh?! I've been incredibly lucky; my photographer is the only thing that has been expensive. There is a lot of things you can do yourself to save on money- invitations, favors, table decorations. Make sure your bride is checking out theknot.com. There is a lot of helpful hints on there to help save on money as well as a good source of ideas.

| have you checked into renting tents and decorating them up nice (yourselves of course to save money) and maybe using a family member's property if available?? I am in TN and a lot of people around here do that to save money most everyone around here with a little bit of property has a nice view of the mountains...just a suggestion. Our wedding was small (about 50 people) total including bridesmaids, my dress, tuxes, chapel, etc. was about 7000.00...oh did I mention that included our honeymoon.. we did like a package type deal with the place our wedding was at and got a cabin for 5 days included in the price and the photography as well...don't know if you have anything like that in your area once again just another suggestion congrats on the big day though

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | We thought of it and due to the temps in MN in the fall we would also have to rent heaters to keep everyone warm in the tents. We asked the cost and they told us we'd need three for the size tent we'd have and they are over $1,000.00 added cost. Our daughter took a poll and everyone told her to ony get married on a Saturday, it's $1,000.00 more to get married on a Saturday than a Friday or Sunday. It's the most popular/expensive day to get married. We checked availability at the location and all the days she wanted were already booked for 2010 with the exception of Labor Day and 9-11. She started out with a November date. So now we are looking at October, and hoping the groom doesn't get stuck in Iraq any longer or sent to Afghanistan instead of coming home on time. We really just want him back safe and sound.

| I see you are in Southern MN. My son and daughter in law got Married last August at the community center in Eagen. Had the ceremony outside (very hot) but they did have a nice patio perhaps for a fall wedding. Since we were on the grooms side I am not sure of the total costs, but the community center was very affordable and they have several caterers to choose from. PM me if you need more info! |
