Whew! Thank heaven's I'm not an Eagles fan! My team (Minn) was in the market for a QB, so I have to admit I was a bit worried. I've never really cared for the Eagles, now I just have one more reason not to.:p |
I can't believe we're stuck with him here in Philly. :( Philly is my town - born and raised - and I lived in and loved every neighborhood. It takes a certain kind of person to watch dogs kill each other and that isn't something that will change just because he went to prison - MV is still the same person inside. And I'm not happy he's here in my town! :( |
You Philly people REALLY need to contact Eagles managment but the rest of us will too. I'm glad it wasn't the Steelers or the Raiders though. No offense but we don't have to worry about seeing him play in a superbowl any time soon. :D Ayway, I just heard he is going to be on 60 Minutes this Sunday. I am going to watch but only because I want to see him squirm! |

UGH!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad: I just saw this on the news and it has literally put me in a bad mood. If I lived there, I would go picket all the games. I really wish there was something all the dog lovers in this country could do. I feel so helpless that this monster will go on making millions. He's not sorry for hurting those dogs, he's sorry for getting caught. What a loser.... |
I just saw it on the news too. His interview stating "everyone deserves a second chance". Well, when it comes to drowning dogs in the family swimming pool and tossing your pets into a pit bull fight to see them torn to bits, and countless other crimes against animals, no, I don't think he deserves to be able to go back into a high profile sports position, not for a minute. He deserves to pick rocks on a chain gang or pick aluminum cans out of the city dump. ggrrrr |
:yeahthat: |
August 2009 No Affiliation With Michael Vick Many of you have contacted us about convicted dogfighter Michael Vick’s recent reinstatement to the National Football League and his new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Through your letters, calls and emails, it is apparent that many of you may be confusing us with a separate organization regarding a relationship with Michael Vick. It is The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) that is working with Michael Vick on an anti-dogfighting campaign, not the American Humane Association. We are different organizations with different approaches to the issue of dogfighting. American Humane is in no way affiliated or aligned with Michael Vick. We are absolutely outraged and heartbroken by Michael Vick’s actions, and have publicly said so. For more than 13 decades American Humane has fought long and hard against any type of animal or child abuse. We don’t know if he can change or not. Nobody does. But given that we have no control over the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles or Michael Vick himself, we sincerely hope that he will show remorse for the incredible atrocities he committed and we adamantly call for him to make good on his stated intention of becoming a visible and strong influence against dogfighting and animal cruelty. Read our most recent statements on Michael Vick: |
I didn't even think about writing to the Humane society but I will now! I have donated plenty of money to them!!!! |

I think the American Humane Society is taking alot of heat for something they are not doing, but someone else with a very similar name is doing. |
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how ANY organization--be it humane society or someone else--launching into what will likely be a very well publicized campaign against dog fighting would be view as a bad thing? Wouldn't making the public more aware of the harsh realities of the issue be a positive thing? |
I wrote to the Humane Society of the United States (I knew someone would call me on that if I just said "Humane Society" :p) and just said that I was very concerned about their Michael Vick campaign and hope that they will get the message across withoug glorifying him. |
Gotcha, good idea. |

For WHAT ? Getting out of prison ? I think the morals of this country are so backwards. Seems people (celeb types) who get arrested ...the more popular they become. I know people love scandels but you don't APPLAUD someone who intentionally tortured animals. |
